What the job involves
- The Data Center of Excellence is the central team that is dedicated to managing and optimising data-related processes, technologies and strategies at FREENOW
- The primary responsibility of the team is to ensure that our company’s data assets are effectively leveraged to drive business value, innovation and decision-making
- As the Lead of the Data Lab team in the Data Center of Excellence, you will work closely with the other Data Leaders and Principals as well as your main stakeholders in the People, Finance and Strategy departments to translate data into business value
- You’re responsible for leading a cross-functional data team of 5-6 Data Analysts, Scientists and Engineers, collaboration with stakeholders and processes in and the strategy for the Data Lab team

- Using a holistic understanding of the business and its processes, lead innovation within the business and define how to create additional value through the utilisation of our data assets and tools
- Driving the usage of advanced data-driven insights in the Data Center of Excellence and beyond and contributing to the definition of the data strategy
- In close collaboration within the data leadership in other business functions and the central data teams, set the right priorities for your team, conceptualise and implement various components of the data infrastructure, processes and models to maximise the impact and value of data usage for all stakeholders in our increasingly complex market environment
- Being the line manager of data analysts, data scientists and machine learning engineers and defining ways of working within the team. Facilitating effective collaboration with other data teams
- By using strategic thinking and planning, help the team to identify, understand, structure and solve complex problems and improve and productionize data products and improve processes

Freenow is a multi-mobility app that's working to make getting around cities safer, faster, and more convenient. The platform puts safety first, connecting passengers with thousands of experiences, vetted drives across Europe. The app offers seven different ways to travel in one place, making it easy to choose the best option for any journey - whether that's a quick work commute, an airport run, or even a night out.
Freenow has a strong European footprint and is focused on working with professional taxi drivers rather than just ride-share amateurs. The service operates in over 180 cities across nine countries and has pickups points at 50 airports. Taxis arrive in an average of four minutes, and the whole experience is cashless, letting users travel like locals.
Recently, the company was acquired by Lyft in an impressive cross-marekt usage, the Lyft app was opened 4.6M times in Freenow's marekt since earl 2024, while Freenow was used 1.2M times in Lyft's territory. This merger could double Lyft's addressable market to over 300B trips per year. Freenow CEO Thomas Zimmermann and his team will continues leading operations across their nine countries and for users, this means the platform should get even better as both companies integrate their technologies and strengths to serve customers worldwide.
