- Desire to learn sales pipeline management, and generally love for a sales organization in a tech business
- Experience working a pipeline across multiple touchpoints leveraging, A/B testing, etc. (SalesLoft and Salesforce experience preferred)
- Proficiency with G-Suite, Excel and other relevant software technologies
- Coachable, self-motivated, curious and resilient, with a “get the job done” demeanor
- Professional, efficient communication (verbal, written, and presentation) and interpersonal skills (positive and personable)
What the job involves
- Collective is looking for a Business Development Representative to own the strategy and execution of end-to-end outreach to prospective members through email, SMS, cold-calling, etc
- This role will partner closely with our Sales and Marketing teams to help drive our growth forward
- With only 4 people focused on these efforts, this individual would help define the strategy and scale the team and efforts
- Lead generation of inbound and outbound sales efforts to develop a sales pipeline. Develop relationships, become a self-employed business expert, and ultimately bring in new members
- Calls with self-employed entrepreneurs where you’ll articulate Collective’s unique value proposition in relation to that customer
- Problem solve: provide feedback and recommendations that improve our products, services and position in the competitive marketplace
- Member experience – ensure all prospective Members are provided with the service of a 24-hour response time as well as creating strategies to surprise and delight throughout the outbound process
- Partner with the Marketing team on GTM strategies, vertical strategy, and provide insight from your daily conversations with prospective members
- Perform other essential duties as assigned
Our take
Collective is tapping into the quickly growing freelance and self employed workforce with a back office platform which provides full support for accounting, tax, bookkeeping and other financial admin, essentially removing the burden from the business owner entirely.
Launched in 2020, Collective didn’t take long to receive major backing from General Catalyst as well as Ashton Kutcher’s VC fund Sound Ventures. It’s put it to great use too, with an employee headcount now in the hundreds, showing just how fast the startup is growing.
Interestingly, Collective isn’t available for any and all subscribers. Rather, it only allows applicants to become members if Collective’s advisors know they can offer real value. It may seem a counter-intuitive move, but it keeps the company’s success rate high.
The company's latest funding round, raised in 2023, supports the accelerated implementation of AI across its operations as well as expanded onboarding efforts. Collective also continues to broaden the value of its offering, for example wit the launch of an AI accounting platform for one-person operations.
