Who you are
- Solid experience writing highly available, large-scale distributed systems in GoLang
- Experience with compiled languages, executable formats, and related tools
- Experience with containers
- Willing to learn new languages to support existing systems
- Proficiency in a scripting language such as bash
- Understanding of principles for system design
- You are eager to learn new domains, grow your skills, and move up the stack
- A great teammate: communicative, collaborative, empathetic, with strong communication skills
Desirable
- Profiling and debugging large-scale build pipelines
- Docker/Podman APIs
- Experience using GCC and/or Clang
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with experience developing highly-available, reliable software systems
- We expect this position to help us evolve the engine that validates, compiles and ships customers’ configuration to our distributed POPs across the globe. This system is critical to Fastly’s operation and requires working with numerous teams in impactful business initiatives
- Contribute to the design of systems that have a direct impact on how customers configurations are validated and shipped to the edge
- Support a high-throughput, highly availability build pipeline and related systems
- Support and deploy applications written in GoLang and Rust, and interact with several teams within the organization
- Collaborate with your teammates through code and design reviews
- Anticipate, design, and build for the continued reliability and scaling needs of the Fastly Control Systems
- Participate in on-call rotation
- Contribute to the core infrastructure and platform needs of the team by working with tools and frameworks like Terraform, Kubernetes, Jenkins and Chef
