Role

Who you are

  • You are currently studying in IT, Computer Science or a related field and looking for an apprenticeship for 2 years
  • We are looking for a candidate currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program
  • We're looking for a motivated apprentice eager to take on challenges in a fast-paced, high-growth organization
  • You have a basic understanding of network fundamentals (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, VPN, Internet)
  • You have some experience with macOS and Windows troubleshooting
  • You are a fast learner who enjoys picking up new technologies and problem-solving
  • You enjoy helping people daily and have strong communication skills
  • You are fluent in English, as you’ll be working in an international environment

Desirable

  • Experience with VMware Workspace One or other MDM solutions
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Office 365, Okta, Atlassian tools

What the job involves

  • Provide day-to-day technical support for employees, troubleshooting hardware and software issues
  • Manage user accounts and access across platforms like Okta, Google Workspace, Office 365, Slack, and more
  • Deploy and configure laptops (macOS & Windows) and mobile devices (iPhone & Android) as part of onboarding and refresh cycles
  • Assist with new hire orientations, IT Onboarding & Offboarding, covering IT policies, best practices, and company services
  • Maintain and update the hardware and software inventory
  • Support unified communications needs across all Akur8 offices
  • Collaborate with the Security Team to enforce IT security standards and best practices
  • Supporting a rapidly growing and internationally distributed team
  • Helping establish and improve IT security policies and processes
  • Working with diverse professionals in a fast-paced, innovative environment

Our take

Putting the correct pricing on insurance has always been a challenge for insurers. Pricing too low can decimate its profits, but pricing too high is a sure-fire way to drive off customers. Despite this importance of pricing, it has generally remained a human task, and therefore prone to errors and biases.

Akur8 wants to change this, delivering an AI-based solution that automates pricing modelling for insurers, while maintaining the transparency and control required by regulators. By leveraging machine learning, the platform enhances insurers’ pricing processes, reducing modelling time whilst increasing predictive power.

Pricing in the insurance industry is changing fast, so keeping on top of such developments will be paramount to Akur8's success. Judging by its early metrics, though, it looks like this should be no problem. The company has already acquired big customers, including the likes of AXA and Generali, and has secured strong funding to support its growth.
