Role
Who you are
- 1-2 years of fullstack engineering experience, ideally using modern web technologies such as TypeScript/Node.js/React, with at least some experience building data-intensive applications
- Growing product intuition: You understand the value of building for user impact. You seek context from product partners and balance speed with thoughtful technical decisions
- Execution-driven mindset: You thrive in fast-paced environments, bias toward action, and ship thoughtful solutions without overengineering
- Adaptability in ambiguity: You’re comfortable filling in gaps, validating direction through prototypes, and evolving your approach as you learn
- Collaborative working style: You work well with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers, and care deeply about delivering value to users
- Nice to have: Experience at B2B SaaS companies, especially during periods of rapid growth or platform expansion
What the job involves
- At the heart of every company’s compensation strategy are the following pillars: compensation bands, compensation planning, and total rewards communication,
- Creating and maintaining compensation bands in an ever-changing labor market is equal parts art and science
- These bands are then utilized in various compensation planning strategies to reward high performers and retain top talent
- Finally, the output of compensation planning is visualized for employees in their Total Rewards portals where they can continue to simulate how their wealth can grow through refresh programs, promotions, and company growth
- Our Market Pricing and Plan & Execute teams build the products that enable our customers do so in a frictionless and transparent way
- Over the next year, we have an ambitious roadmap that encompass the entire compensation strategy lifecycle: how customers define their compensation philosophies, model their jobs in Pave, understand trends in market data, translate trends into their compensation bands, apply band adjustments into merit cycle planning, communicate compensation adjustments to eligible employees, and help employees understand the value of their compensation over time
- Within our agile teams, we value strong ownership and collaboration
- Team members move between ideation, scoping, and execution in a matter of days while closely iterating with cross functional partners on requirements
- We expect you to be comfortable and excited about navigating ambiguity
- We’re looking for product-centric engineers to help us embark on this journey together — we’re only scratching the surface!
Application process
- At Pave, we value intellectual honesty and transparency, and we bring this to our interview process
- Throughout your time interviewing with us, we will be evaluating where you can best make an impact through multiple conversations with your recruiter, hiring manager, peers, cross-functional partners, and leadership
- We also use our interviews to determine leveling, which is finalized at the end of your interview process by your hiring manager
- The majority of our roles have 3-5 interview rounds. You can expect to hear back from our team within 2 days after each interview round. Once we extend an offer, we hope to hear back from you within 3 days. It is extremely important to us that we find a great mutual fit - we’re excited to get to know you!
Our take
Compensation survey and merit cycle processes are integral to so many businesses, and yet remain time-consuming manual activities. Staff often lack financial training resulting in spreadsheet induced errors. Pave saw a need to update and streamline the process.
The core advantage of Pave is its ease of integration with HRIS, ATS and cap table software, creating real-time compensation data views without the need for spreadsheets. Using the software creates a fair and transparent system that management can rely on and employees can respect. The company has seen strong momentum, with backing from big names like Y Combinator and az16.
Some organisations have been reluctant to adopt solutions like Pave’s on account of the radical transparency it provides. However, with companies like Credit Karma, Miro and Discord all signing on, Pave has proven its ability to draw lucrative enterprise-level clients. It also became a Unicorn in 2022 after an impressive Series C funding round, boding well for its longevity.
