Who you are
- 8+ years of experience in payments, transaction banking services, or customer analytics, preferably in marketing, strategy, business development, or product management
- Excellent problem-solving skills, initiative, and responsiveness to internal and customer requests
- Strong planning and prioritizing skills, with the ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced cross-functional team environment
- Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Experience in a diverse, multi-cultural environment and across geographies and teams
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Spanish is beneficial
- Customer-facing experience and willingness to travel across the UKI as required (Banks, PSPs, Fintechs, corporates)
- Familiarity with data analytics methodologies & tools (e.g., Tableau, MicroStrategy, PowerBI) is a plus
What the job involves
- We are seeking a Payment Specialist- Commercial Manager to report to the Head of Payments AMUK
- This role will support the account management team for the UK region, including coverage and some generic responsibilities across the AMUK Payments Team
- You will implement our payments markets strategy and go-to-market plans locally through campaigns and projects, in collaboration with the regional business development organization
- Act as the business development key contact and a subject matter expert, supporting our clients and sales force with your extensive expertise on payments
- Provide daily assistance to business development and clients over the phone, in person, and via email, focusing on quality of service
- Analyze target and pipeline reports, monitor, and communicate performance against various business metrics
- Demonstrate initiative to resolve client issues and requests
- Build positive relationships with Business Development Teams to provide efficient client service
- Develop expertise in and articulate the value proposition for Swift’s gpi portfolio and other payment-related services
- Participate in end-user insight research (working groups, surveys, bilateral meetings, industry events) to better understand the customers' payments business and ecosystem
- Support customer onboarding and product lifecycle, deliver sales training, and provide sales and customer support

SWIFT was founded in 1973 to serve as the bedrock of the international payments system. A cooperative society which is owned by its member financial institutions, it is a vital piece of the global financial infrastructure, securely transmitting payment instructions between over 11,000 institutions in almost every country. SWIFT handles half of all international transactions, on average 40 million every day.
SWIFT's only direct competition in the traditional cross-border payments sector are bodies such as China's CIPS and Russia's SFMS. Yet, lacking the trust and membership of SWIFT these are unlikely to make serious inroads in the international payments sector.
In recent years, the competitive landscape for international transfers has been disrupted by the large-scale uptake of cryptocurrency. SWIFT has not been immune, facing competition from high-speed blockchain payment networks such as Ripple. However, SWIFT has moved quickly to adapt, introducing SWIFT Global Payments Innovation (gpi) to increase the speed of transactions to nearly that of its competitors, but with greatly enhanced visibility. It also plans to introduce blockchain technologies, partnering with companies like Chainlink to trial its own cross-chain protocols that will support it in the new financial landscape.
