Role
Who you are
- 2+ years experience building production web applications: You can build high-quality web applications with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and are familiar with web frameworks such as React
- Curious and informed about web trends: You like to stay abreast of UI/UX trends and the latest innovations in web technology. Bonus: you have some knowledge and interest in helping with front-end infrastructure (build processes, testing libraries, etc.)
- Web accessibility familiarity: You are familiar with and driven to create products that meet or exceed accessibility standards. You have an idea of how to resolve common accessibility issues
- Attention to UX and UI details: You have keen skills in interaction design. You care about grid layout, button and form states and styles, typography, navigation, and way-finding. You have an eye for consistency and polish. Bonus: You have opinions about tables and charts and how to communicate data interactively in effective and compelling ways
- Excited to educate colleagues: You are a good communicator who is excited to educate and mentor others on best practices. You can write clearly and concisely, and are able to provide critical feedback on code
- An instinct for product and business needs: You are curious about user needs, and are excited to develop and share opinions about product direction, and what will have impact for our users and the business
What the job involves
- In this role, you'll own the foundations our frontend is built on, include the infrastructure, tooling, and component system that the entire engineering team relies on
- You'll set the standard for performance, quality, and best practices in the frontend and make it faster and safer for every engineer to ship great UI
- You'll also partner closely with designers and PMs on the product itself. Our front-end stack consists of React and TypeScript, and we use Figma for design
- Own frontend infrastructure & deployment: Build and maintain the tooling our frontend runs on (bundling, linting, type-checking, testing setup, and CI/CD). You'll own the frontend developer experience end to end
- Build and evolve our component system: Design and maintain our design system and component library, ensuring we focus on clean component APIs, theming, accessibility, and documentation and drive adoption so teams build on consistent, high-quality building blocks
- Champion frontend performance & best practices: Set and uphold patterns for performance, code quality, and architecture. Profile and optimize bundle size, load, and render performance, and raise the bar through code review and mentorship
- Collaborate with designers, engineers, and PMs on features: Help audit, design, and build foundational UI and UX across the product, with an emphasis on polished, performant interfaces, prototyping interactions, and data visualization
- Interact with end users: Jump in on customer feedback and talk with users to understand how they use the product and what's getting in their way

Assembled's platform helps companies manage and scale their customer support services. Customer service management is just one of the many areas that are being overhauled by digital transformation. Assembled helps streamline cumbersome and error-prone customer support processes - such as planning support rosters, forecasting demand, and evaluating team performance.
Assembled already counts companies like Zoom, GoFundMe and Stripe on its customer books, and finds huge opportunity in key industries like eCommerce and food deliveries that have been seeing massive digital overhauls.
Having received significant investment, the company seems set on continued growth, with funds cited to support product development as well as help launch its CX Scholars initiative. This will commit a percentage of revenue to continuing education for support workers.
