Who you are
- Strategic thinking and leadership: Ability to think strategically, set a clear vision, make informed decisions, and guide the team toward achieving product goals

What the job involves
- A Director of Product Management, Managed AI & Inference is a senior leader responsible for defining and driving the product strategy and roadmap for Crusoe’s Managed AI Services, with a particular focus on large-scale inference capabilities
- This role involves balancing customer needs with technical feasibility and business goals, while overseeing the entire product lifecycle from ideation to delivery and continuous improvement
- The Director will lead a product management team to ensure Crusoe’s Managed AI offerings deliver industry-leading performance, scalability, and sustainability
- Setting the product vision and strategy: Define the long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for Managed AI & Inference services, aligning them with overall company goals, market trends, customer needs, and GTM strategy
- Leading and managing a team: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of product managers, overseeing their performance and development
- Driving product development and execution: Collaborate closely with engineering, infrastructure, cloud software, SRE, finance, and executive teams to define product requirements, prioritize features, and oversee the product development lifecycle from concept to launch
- Market analysis and competitive intelligence: Conduct market research, analyze competitive landscape, and stay updated on AI/ML infrastructure trends, including inference platforms, generative AI, LLMs, and multimodal models, to inform product strategy and identify new opportunities
- Customer engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and customers to understand their needs, gather feedback, and translate them into actionable product improvements
- Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy: Partner with sales and marketing teams to develop effective GTM strategies and messaging for Managed AI & Inference offerings, including pricing and positioning
- Performance management: Monitor key performance metrics, analyze data to measure product success, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven decisions
- Resource and budget management: Manage product budgets and resources effectively to achieve business goals
- Risk management: Proactively identify and address technical risks, scaling challenges, and infrastructure bottlenecks
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work effectively with various teams to ensure successful product execution and alignment with Crusoe’s sustainability goals
Our take
Crusoe is tackling one of the biggest challenges facing the digital age: the enormous energy demand of data centres and AI infrastructure. As AI models grow more powerful, they require immense computing power (and therefor electricity) to train and operate. This surge in energy use has put some pressure on power grids, driven up costs, and raised environmental concerns. Crusoe is on a mission to make this process more sustainable by finding smarter, cleaner, and more efficient ways to power the data centres that drive modern computing.
The company started out by putting wasted energy to work. Originally known as Crusoe Energy, it captured natural gas that would otherwise be burned off ("flared") at remote oil sites and used it to power modular data centres. Today, Crusoe has evolved into a major player in AI infrastructure, designing and operating large-scale data centres near renewable or stranded energy sources. It's now one of a handful of "neocloud" companies (next-generation cloud providers focused on flexible, efficient computing for AI workloads). And its facilities are helping tech giants like OpenAI handle the massive computing requirements of training advanced AI models.
Recently, Crusoe has attracted some huge investor attention, tripling its valuation to over $10B and raising $1.4B in its latest funding round. It's building OpenAI's first major US data centre campus and even experimenting with bold new frontiers. In partnership with Starcloud, Crusoe plans to deploy the world's first space-based cloud computing infrastructure, powered by solar energy and orbiting the Earth by 2027. If successful, this could redefine how and where computing happens, opening up a cleaner, virtually limitless source of energy for AI's next generation.
