Financial Accountant, Settly

• 4-6 years experience as a Financial Accountant
• Experience working in International Companies
• Experience working in start-up or scale-up environments
• Self-starter and continuous improvement mindset
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations
• Skilled in using financial accounting software and tools to analyse and interpret financial data. Proficiency in Exact Online and prior experience in Sage, Xero, Quickbooks, among others would be beneficial
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
• Able to delegate tasks effectively and provide clear guidance and support to their team
• Ability to think on your feet and to pivot the financial strategies as needed
• The ability to adapt to changing business environments and be able to respond quickly to changes in the financial landscape
• Strong problem-solving skills, allowing you to identify and address financial challenges and make informed decisions that support the company's overall financial health

Desirable

• In this role you will be responsible for managing and optimising the entire Procure to Pay, Order to Cash and Record to Report financial operational process cycles; Managing our accounting system (Exact Online) and the accounting process, which is currently outsourced and will be internalised due to business growth needs; Maintaining financial records; Preparing error-free financial reports, financial statements and supporting analysis on time in order to support strategic decision-making
• You will report directly to the Finance Manager and you will join a small but mighty Finance Team based in Amsterdam on a mission to revolutionise the finance function and enable Settly to achieve our mission of creating a world where everyone can feel at home
• Ensure that operational process cycles are completed on time and with a high level of accuracy, while adhering to internal control procedures and policies
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, making necessary adjustments and reconciliations
• Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations prepared by junior staff
• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g. Dutch GAAP and SaaS IFRS) and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including timely and accurate tax filings
• Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and tax laws
• Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and enhance efficiency
• Implement best practices in financial accounting and reporting
• Optimise our Accounting system, Exact Online
• Assist in system upgrades or implementations as needed
