Role
Who you are
- We are looking for an enthusiastic person who wants to join our adventure, to be part of a company that is disrupting the market with an innovative product
- Strong understanding of AWS Fundamentals in IAM, VPC and compute resources
- Understanding of RDS and DynamoDB
- Experience using infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform, Cloudformation)
- Experience using Kubernetes and deploying via Helm
- Scripting knowledge in at least one scripting language (perl/python/ruby/shell) for quick prototyping of solutions
- Experience with declarative configuration systems like Ansible, Puppet or Chef
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
- Development or SRE background
- An affinity for prioritising complex product/team requirements and reducing them to manageable tasks
- Be an excellent problem solver and effective communicator, with a positive can-do attitude
- Self motivated with a passion for continual professional development
- Personal, adaptable and flexible with the ability to work successfully in a fast-paced changing environment
- Demonstrates both strong teamwork skills and ability to work independently
- Must be available to attend quarterly company meetings held in the office in person and attend the office on assigned office days each week in line with our hybrid working policy

Desirable
- Experience working with AWS Data Lake or other similar technologies related to managing large sets of data
- Experience working with GCP and Google Workspace
- Working experience with monitoring and log analytic systems
- Understanding of foundational network concepts such as the OSI Model, TCP/IP, Routing, IPSec
- Experience in pixel streaming or similar cloud-based real-time rendering solutions
- Experience working with Geospatial data, data analysis, AI, BIM, computational engineering or procedural/traditional 3d modelling
What the job involves
- We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to help us build and maintain our cloud based infrastructure
- As part of a Platform Team you will be responsible for designing and implementing infrastructure in AWS including EC2, Kubernetes and Lambda functions
- Supporting our other development teams to ensure their code is deployed onto the appropriate platforms as necessary based on their purpose and compute requirements
- Liaise with other team members, including within the Platform team and wider Make/Sell teams in order to determine their requirements and identify further opportunities for automation
- Supporting product/project management cycles by helping the product team to prioritise requirements
- Maintaining our servers in AWS and other cloud-based providers using Terraform
- To keep software, datasets and systems up to date
- To assist in data and server migrations
- Automation of server deployments via Ansible (or similar) to keep inventory and ensure standardisation of our various systems and services
- Point of escalation for deployment and platform issues
- Develop solutions that are reusable and can be broadly applied to common network problems
- Automation of processes and systems that are not yet properly implemented
- Keeping up-to-date with current and emerging automation technologies and trends
- Mentoring of junior engineers in their day-to-day work, on departmental processes and best-practices. Leading by example
- Supporting team delivery, including attendance at all relevant team planning sessions, and keeping team members briefed on changes to agreed plans / strategies

It can look at zoning regulation, traffic gravity and solar potential of buildings – to name a few. VU.CITY is a city planning tech company creating “digital twins” for some of the world’s largest cities.
The company has already created models for 26 UK cities and has expanded internationally modelling New York and Dublin also. In short, the idea behind VU.CITY is to help real estate developers to make better design and planning decisions. This idea could have immense impact to the efficiency of cities both logistically but also environmentally which is a very appealing factor.
The smart design platform also has significant funding and partnerships, huge boosts for its next phase of growth. With this solid foundation, it will be interesting to see the large scale impact the company can have on our cities as it scales.
