Who you are
- Undergraduate or graduate student, majoring in Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, or Mass Media is preferred
- Strong writing skills and editing ability
- Familiar with graphic editing software, such as PS
- Strong learning ability, efficient, teamwork
- Website social media operation or copywriting experience is preferred
- E-commerce (especially fresh grocery) practitioners are preferred
What the job involves
- Weee! is actively seeking a Content Marketing Specialist Intern with proficiency in both Chinese and English to spearhead our marketing efforts
- In this role, you will be responsible for strategizing, creating, editing, and disseminating compelling content across multiple platforms, including websites, email, app notifications, WeChat, Facebook, and more
- Your objective will be to achieve measurable results that contribute to the growth of our Bay Area market, driving revenue, acquiring new users, and engaging existing ones
- Develop, edit, and publish captivating content and daily promotional campaigns targeting the Bay area regions. This includes crafting app push notifications, email campaigns, and WeChat promotions to attract and retain customers
- Collaborate with the merchandising team to select products for promotions and create relevant content that effectively drives sales
- Partner with designers to design banners and other promotional materials
- Enhance web traffic and brand recognition through online content marketing efforts
- Measure and analyze the outcomes of marketing activities
- Stay updated on emerging media technologies and marketing trends
Our take
It's often hard to find foreign or imported food ingredients in the United States. Weee is an online delivery platform aiming to address this by offering groceries and products for Asian Americans and underserved communities across North America. CEO Larry Lui founded the company after having difficulty finding Chinese ingredients in local stores when he moved to the U.S.
Since its launch in 2015, Weee caters to approximately 300,000 households in the U.S and fulfils thousands of orders a day. Originally targeting Asian consumers, the company now brands itself as an “ethnic e-grocer” in a move to attract the United States' 60 million Hispanic consumers as well. This diversification is in response to growing competition in the Asian grocery space from the likes of e-grocers Chowbus and Umamicart and retail chains H Mart and 99 Ranch Market.
The ethnic grocery market is expected to reach more than $460 billion by 2030. Weee plan to grow into this market by launching its service in over 30 additional North American cities over the next three years, expanding into the Canadian market as well. Further, 2022 funding will be used to tap into new cultural cuisines and scale development in AI and warehouse automation.
