Who you are

- A Master’s Degree in accounting or finance or Chartered Accountant professional qualification
- Minimum of 5 years relevant accounting experience, preferably in a Dutch company
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles for a Dutch company
- Strong understanding of Dutch tax regulations
- Proficiency in both Dutch and English language, both written and verbal
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Intermediate proficiency in Quickbooks Online
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
What the job involves
- As the Senior Accountant, you will record all transactions including dutch payroll entries, general ledger adjustments, accounts payable, and intercompany accounts receivable, prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) in accordance with accepted accounting principles, conduct variance analysis to identify and explain significant fluctuations in financial performance and oversee the B.V. month-end close process, including all journal entries, account reconciliation, and accruals
- Accounting Operations:
- Manage accounts payable process, including invoice verification and payment processing
- Manage the fixed asset ledger to include additions, retirements, adjustments, and depreciation-amortization of long-term assets on the balance sheet
- Perform bank reconciliations and explain fluctuations related to financial performance
- Maintain accurate general ledger records and ensure proper coding of transactions with a high emphasis on VAT related accounting transactions as well as government tax credit transactions related to R&D costs incurred
- Conduct financial analysis to provide insights and support strategic decision-making. Make recommendations to the leadership team based on analysis
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and presentations for management as needed
- Tax Compliance
- Prepare and file Dutch corporate tax returns and VAT returns in accordance with local regulations
- Ensure accurate reconciliations and balances are maintained and reviewed on a monthly basis
- Internal Controls and Audit Support
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity
- Monitor compliance with internal control policies as well as company-wide policies related to expense reimbursement, travel policy, and other company policies
- Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate the audit process by providing necessary documentation and explanations. Maintain source document integrity
- Work with the U.S. accounting team to design and implement company-wide internal controls, policies, and procedures for process improvement and increasing audit readiness
