Who you are
- This position requires candidates to be available for consecutive co-op terms totaling at least 8 months starting early May 2025
- Working towards a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business Administration (Accounting or Finance major preferred) or similar program
- Working towards all necessary prerequisites for admission into the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA), Professional Education Program (PEP)
- Very high attention to detail and strong customer service skills
- Strong communicator: oral, written, interpersonal
- A growth mindset, self-motivated and excited to work in a fast-paced environment
- Organized with the ability to manage multiple duties simultaneously
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Superb Microsoft Office skills; specifically Excel & PowerPoint
- Previous accounting related office experience is an asset
- Must be able to travel to and work from our Toronto Office following a hybrid schedule of up to 4 days a week in office

What the job involves
- As the Finance & Accounting Intern, you will work closely with the finance & accounting team to maintain data integrity in our ERP (NetSuite), participate in monthly/annual close processes, maintain SOPs, and perform financial analysis
- This intern role is centered around supporting the day-to-day operations of the business, helping the business make data empowered decisions and being the front-line point of contact for our suppliers
- Support the smooth operation of the Accounts Payable function, involving processing supplier invoices in Netsuite, ensuring accurate coding and validity, reconciling discrepancies, responding to supplier inquiries and timely payments processing
- Actively participate in month-end and year-end close processes, assisting with preparation of journal entries, maintenance of proper supporting documentation. and the preparation of financial statements, reports and variance analysis
- Perform credit card and bank reconciliations, reviewing for policy compliance
- Maintain finance procedures and related process documents
- Contribute to a team effort and undertakes other special projects as requested
Our take
Low Earth Orbit satellites pass over Earth once every 90 minutes, passing data and communications through radio waves. Kepler, which was founded by Alumni of the University of Toronto’s aerospace community, responds to the opinion that these small daily intervals are not enough, as the need for the internet outside of Earth is set to become more prevalent.
Kepler has 23 satellites in low-Earth orbit, with plans for a future network of over 100. Its satellite technology sets the company apart, as they are much smaller and cheaper than traditional alternatives. It mainly serves the maritime and aviation industries, as well as governments.
An influx of funding has enabled Kepler to grow, with a total of over $200 million raised. Its optical data relay network, originally planned for launch in 2024, was delayed a couple of years. It is, however, now becoming a reality, with an initial launch of 10 satellites.
