Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering, focused on delivering ML/AI solutions to production
- Proven experience in implementing high-quality systems
- Proficiency in Python, machine learning techniques and operations
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with public cloud infrastructure such as Azure, AWS, GCP
- Experience in writing and debugging SQL queries
Desirable
- Experience with Airflow, Luigi, or similar data orchestration platforms
- Active member of the open source or local tech community
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to help build out our end-to-end AI/ML model development and deployment platform
- As a Machine Learning Engineer on Wonder's Platform team, you will work on tooling and automation that supports the range of ML use cases across Wonder, including demand forecasting, supply chain planning, personalization, recommendations, and generative AI applications

- Working closely with your product and engineering managers to design and build ML solutions that have a profound impact on the business
- Code that is clean, well documented, and easy to iterate on
- Eagerness to learn cross-functionally, not only within the ML domain but also within various business functions like Culinary, Operations, Consumer Product, Marketing, Finance, etc
- Openness to both giving and receiving constructive feedback with the intention of bettering everyone involved
- Thirst for learning and a passion for putting new technologies, processes and patterns into practice in a realistic manner
- Ability to understand how the whole system fits together at both a high level as well as at a detailed level in the given area of responsibility and beyond
Our take
Food delivered to your door often gets cold and soggy as it travels in a courier's bag from restaurant to home. Using Wonder, customers order food from a mobile app, which is cooked in a truck right outside your door. Their aim is to improve the standard of home-delivered food, both the quality of product – working with world renowned chefs – and the experience itself.
Wonder has received fair criticism surrounding poor environmental consideration, as each kitchen/van sits idle with the engine running whilst food is prepared. A study by the US Department of Energy found that banning the unnecessary idling of personal vehicles would be the same as taking 5 million vehicles off the roads.
In spite of this, Wonder has sustainability strategies involving food sourcing, reducing food waste, sustainable packaging, and, notably, an emissions-neutral fleet. Wonder has received enormous funding bringing it to a valuation of $3.5 billion, and the number of vans distributed across North America is expected to multiply exponentially.
