Role
Who you are
- Bring 6-8+ years of industry experience in statistics, experiment design and distributed machine learning
- Experience as a tech lead or manager of data scientists
- Effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
- Have an advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, etc.)
Desirable
- You have experience in credit risk modeling or extracting signal from credit card transaction data
What the job involves
- Your impact will be measured by the contributions you make with your team to improve the accuracy of our data and the usability and value of our product to our customers
- Can translate customer goals into innovative solutions that utilize machine learning, statistics and high quality code (we use Python libraries and Spark extensively)
- Sets high standards for rigorous analysis and model development that embraces sound statistical practices in order to ensure high quality and reproducible results and
- Approaches data as a reflection of the real-world and develops repeatable strategies for validating results against ground truth
- Develops techniques to detect and explore anomalies in our data, uncover the source and address in a way that improves our product
- Thrives in high-performing, collaborative teams with fast iteration speed
Our take
Financial data analysis is imperative for small businesses to flourish, but it is equally valuable to other parties. Larger companies often need to access data to measure the financial risk of small businesses for underwriting, target outbound marketing, and gain market visibility, but accurate information is generally only available regarding large businesses and enterprises.
Enigma provides a small business data platform, aggregating card revenues, revenue growth, transaction volume, and other card-related data to give companies insight into the finances of small businesses. The company combines offline official public records with digitally collected sources to validate the accuracy of its data, which the company claims can help them avoid the risk of misinformed forecasting.
Whilst many existing platforms specialize in data sharing between large businesses, small businesses play a huge part in many larger businesses’ operations, and Enigma has been smart to recognize that this means a dedicated data solution is required. It aims to help companies mitigate risk when working with smaller businesses, improve insight-driven marketing, and increase market visibility for these firms.
