- 10+ years of highly verticalized B2B sales focusing on large employers within the region
- College degree, advanced degree a plus
- Deep understanding of sales process and how to close complex deals in a highly competitive market
- Successful sales history and consistent 100% quota attainment for the past 3+ years closing deals valued at $1M+ to strategic accounts
- Knowledge of customer and reporting requirements
- Excellent cross-functional working skills
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Must be willing and able to travel frequently, and sometimes with short notice
What the job involves
- We’re looking for an experienced sales executive to join our Enterprise team as an individual contributor, targeting and selling directly into key accounts in the large employer segment
- You’ll have a unique opportunity to shape Color’s growth and product
- You’ll be involved in every aspect of building our relationships with large employers: sourcing & developing leads, driving customers to close and managing relationships post-sale
- This territory includes: AK, WA, OR, CA, NV, UT
- Develop and grow business relationships with prospective employer clients with 5k+ employees
- Continually assess revenue potential of territory through analysis of the overall market, corporate goals, pipeline outlook, and general industry intelligence in order to provide accurate sales forecasts
- Consistently meet or exceed annual sale goals/quota
- Deliver compelling presentations to prospective clients, consultants, partners, and others to make the case for Cancer management being a top priority
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop effective proposals
- Provide leadership with regular updates on sales-focused activities including lead generation, competitive intelligence, and product opportunities
- Keep abreast of market conditions, competitive activities, technological trends through ongoing research and engagement at industry conferences, literature reviews and other sources
- Find, develop and close opportunities
- Develop outreach strategies to generate new business
- Handle the inbound leads and manage the full sales cycle
- Work closely with team to close agreements
- Help manage and maintain the accounts once the deals are closed, looking for upsell and cross sell opportunities
Our take
The genetic testing market is hugely promising, with an annual growth rate of over 10%, it’s expected to grow to a $21 billion industry by 2027. Color’s main offering is genetic testing, an increasingly popular preventative healthcare strategy which informs patients about inherited health risks, and puts them in contact with counselors to work on a response plan.
There are plenty of prominent actors in the marketplace, with 23andMe the most well known. However, Color stands out from its competitors by not working in the direct-to-consumer market, but by partnering up with employers, unions and governments to provide population-wide insights. The company’s client list is impressive, including the National Institutes of Health and the State of California, as well as Salesforce, Levis and Visa.
Thanks to a near $170 million series D funding round at the beginning of 2021, the company’s value hit “unicorn” status as it surpassed $1.5 billion. The company’s future growth will be interesting to watch, with the company announcing a new behavioural healthcare solution in October 2022 alongside the acquisition of mental health platform Mood Lifters. In 2024, Color began working with OpenAI on early detection tools for cancer. These developments are in line with Color's aim to build a wider infrastructure for a tech-based public health approach and indicate a push for a future IPO.
