Role
Who you are
- Strong experience in user research or similar role within a B2B SaaS environment, preferably working with financial services customers
- Strong track record of various user research methodologies e.g. conducting customer interviews, creating research plans, and translating findings into actionable product requirements
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience presenting research findings to senior stakeholders and C-suite executives
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex user feedback into clear, actionable insights for product development
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns and insights from both qualitative and quantitative data
Desirable
- Knowledge or interest in climate change impacts and adaptation strategies, particularly in financial risk assessment
- Experience working with financial services products or enterprise SaaS solutions
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and product development processes
- Understanding of risk assessment frameworks and financial modeling concepts
What the job involves
- We're looking for a User Researcher to help us better understand our customers' needs in climate risk management and adaptation strategies. This role will be crucial in shaping our product development through deep customer insights and feedback
- Customer Research & Insights: Lead comprehensive user research initiatives, including customer interviews, surveys, and feedback sessions with financial services clients to understand their climate risk assessment and adaptation needs
- Requirements Translation: Transform customer feedback and market research into clear business requirements and product specifications, working closely with product and engineering teams
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Customer Success teams to establish strong relationships with clients, facilitating ongoing dialogue about their climate adaptation and resilience strategies
- Voice of Customer Program: Develop and manage a structured program to regularly capture customer feedback, needs, and pain points, ensuring this information drives product development
- User Journey Mapping: Create detailed user journey maps and personas for different customer segments, identifying opportunities for product enhancement and innovation
- Research Planning & Execution: Design and implement research plans that align with product strategy, including methods for gathering both qualitative and quantitative data about user behaviour and needs

Our take
Climate Change is one of the most pressing global issues and the UK has already set the way for clean and green growth and established a National Adaptation Programme. Therefore, there has been a rise in Climate-tech companies developed in the UK to address these issues. In comparison to ESG-assessment platforms or climate fintechs focused on cleaner investment and climate mitigation, Climate X aims to change the way the world manages assets, property and infrastructure through a new vertical of climate adaptation software. They are modelling climate effects that are inevitable due to past and current greenhouse gas emissions.
Climate X works through an API which simulates multiple climate projections and then estimates how these climate projections would damage the assets. The platform then quantifies this damage and models the impacts' valuations and cashflows. Its models will update automatically and self-calibrate in response to the latest available scientific data and will be built on a cloud-based architecture for seamless access, secure data exchange and integration.
The future of Climate X is promising, as it is working with the UK’s leading climate scientists, AI specialists, financial services professionals and the London School of Economics. Adding to its strong position, a Series A of $18M awarded in 2024 will be used to grow its market share internationally. If successful, Climate X will save customers millions of pounds, helping individuals and organizations to be more resilient to climate change, meet incoming regulatory requirements and make smarter investment decisions.
