Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA preferred but does not need to be active
- 7+ years of accounting experience at a software company, ideally some of this experience at an early stage startup
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting policies including revenue recognition, stock based compensation and transfer pricing
- Experience consolidating financials for multi-entity & multi-currency businesses
- Proficiency with NetSuite or comparable ERP system and experience implementing such an ERP
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Eagerness to learn about state of the art multi-modal foundation models
- Willingness to come to our San Francisco (Jackson Square) office at least 3 days per week

What the job involves
- As the Senior Accounting Manager, you will be the first dedicated hire in Accounting at Twelve Labs. You will play a critical role in bringing the accounting function in house over time, implementing key systems in the financial systems stack, preparing board materials and managing cash
- This role will report to the Head of Finance and have visibility and exposure to the founders and rest of the executive team. You will be the in house accounting expert with an opportunity to up-level the entire executive team’s accounting knowledge
- Manage the close process in partnership with our external accounting firms. Over time this person will have the opportunity to lead the transition of externally managed accounting to internally managed
- Oversee accounts payable, employee reimbursements, accounts receivable and other working capital tasks
- Develop a financial systems roadmap with the Head of Finance along with leading or contributing to the implementation of any of those systems
- Collaborate with the Head of Finance the executive team on accounting policies (e.g. Revenue Recognition policy) while ensuring all policies are in compliance with the appropriate accounting standards (e.g. ASC 606)
- Take on ad hoc / unplanned projects from a wide range of areas such as Cost of Revenue, Stock Based Comp or Treasury
- Prepare Twelve Labs for its first audit sometime in the future
Our take
Developing an algorithm that can understand text or images is (relatively) straightforward. However, the challenge escalates when it comes to understanding video, where these modes merge with audio, and context becomes much harder to grasp.
Twelve Labs has developed a machine learning solution that tackles this challenge by making the inner content of videos both indexable for developers and highly searchable for users. This technology could prove immensely valuable, with use cases extending far beyond simple searchability for end users. It could be employed for more accurate monitoring of community guidelines on social media, enterprise knowledge searches, and a deeper understanding of the value of video content.
With recent funding under its belt, Twelve Labs is set for rapid growth. The investment will drive R&D, nearly double its workforce, and advance its video understanding technology. As it expands, Twelve Labs is well-positioned to lead the future of multimodal AI and revolutionize how organizations extract values from video content.
