Who you are
- 5+ years of relevant experience in events marketing and/or field marketing
- Event planning experience and be comfortable with strategic deal-making
- Passion for planning high-touch, highly visible events
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a customer service focus and networking ability
- Proven success performing well under deadlines with exceptional attention to detail
- Success working in cross-functional teams
- People management or leadership experience
- Ability to multitask and keep calm under pressure
- Competency in technology tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Cvent and other event platforms
What the job involves
- Our Global Events team's mission is to deliver an overarching event strategy across the business
- We are committed to creating an exceptional attendee experience at all our global events, both face-to-face and hybrid and digital
- In this role, you will collaborate with engineering and the GTM team to strategize, design, and deliver key events
- You’ll be involved in both internal and external event planning
- You’ll be managing complex assignments using your in-depth knowledge of tradeshows, as well as the open-source ecosystem, to deliver on our business and community-building goals
- Execute the global event strategy in support of community, engineering and GTM business goals and priorities
- Managing the planning, logistics, and execution of all details for 3rd party events and meetups
- Support all aspects of planning, including event sponsorship, ticket sales, technology needs, meeting space and food & beverage planning, signage, accommodations, templates, property sourcing, selection and contract negotiations, vendor and customer relations, accounts payable, transportation, survey development, etc
- Partnering with internal stakeholders to lead the planning meetings/calls & deliverable updates
- Manage budget reporting, including budget tracking, invoices, reconciliation of programs, expense reports
- Management of external partners and vendors expectations for multiple event projects
- Manage conference speaking opportunities and speaker placement
- Manage swag campaign fulfilment and help in the design of new swag campaigns
- Work with the marketing team to provide social media promotions on Twitter, LinkedIn, etc
- Promote participation of Community members with Percona events
