Our take

Manual microscopes are an incredible advancement in medical history. They provide an evaluation of tissue samples that enable the diagnosis of cancer as well as multiple degenerative, infectious and inflammatory diseases. With this said, there has been a worldwide increase in the numbers and complexity of cancer cases, as well as a predicted global shortage of pathologists. Manual analysis does not have the precision and capability to provide deeper conclusions from data to support the precision medicine and drug development processes of the future.

Aignostics recognise this issue. They are an interdisciplinary team of machine learners, data scientists, pathologists, software engineers and business professionals dedicated to taking explainable AI from their research lab into the wider world.

Aignostics plan to expand its portfolio in pharmaceutical research and fund longer-term projects that are aimed at developing companion/complementary diagnostics (CDx) applications for clinical routine. It will also increase its focus on the US market, leveraging its already considerable presence in Europe to make the jump across the Atlantic.

Company values

  • Humility and respect: We want to be an idea meritocracy, where the best ideas win, not the loudest or most ‘senior’ voices. We think humility and respect are the basis for this. We therefore live tolerance and respect of other views, religions, sexual orientations and life models, and generally encourage direct and open communication
  • Integrity: We strive to do what’s right and fair. We don’t lie, and we also don’t overpromise, neither to each other, nor to our partners, clients, or investors. We give honest scientific opinions and we don’t shy away from the truth. Being a trusted partner is key to our success. We can admit mistakes and we try to learn from them
  • Teamwork: Developing pathology AI is a truly multidisciplinary problem, in a fast-moving technological field. We collaborate closely, and being a true team player is a must. All of us are “coachable”, can take honest feedback, and keep an open mind to change our approaches. We want to learn from each other and help each other shine!
  • Mission driven: We have a big mission, and we operate with a sense of urgency to achieve it. We rely on each other to take ownership and responsibility, and we constantly challenge each other to become better. At the same time, we value flexible working models and believe that a healthy work-life-balance is the basis for good performance
