Who you are
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with project stakeholders as well as team members
- Knowledge of server virtualization, media file storage, and basic networking
- Experience with Okta
- Experience with the following systems: Windows Server, Linux (CentOs/RHEL), Active Directory, Network Storage, VMware
Desirable
- Microsoft, VMware, Okta certifications or equivalent preferred
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and Powershell
- Experience with Google Cloud or AWS
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology preferred
What the job involves
- Vox Media’s Corporate IT team is looking for a Systems Administrator
- You’ll be expected to provide excellent customer service by ensuring systems performance and maintenance at all of our Vox Media offices
- As Vox Media continues to grow, you’ll play an essential role in enhancing the security and quality of Vox Media’s IT infrastructure
- This position will report directly to the Director, IT Infrastructure
- Maintain virtual environment across multiple offices
- Maintain Active Directory and single sign on systems for the organization
- Manage Windows and Linux servers
- Manage infrastructure monitoring tools
- Monitor system performance and implement performance tuning
- Perform troubleshooting and analysis of servers and associated systems
- Manage system backup systems
- Work with the system engineer to evaluate, build, integrate, test, and prepare systems for operational use
- Upgrade and patch servers/services
- Create/update technical documentation as required

Vox Media publishes media across various digital platforms, focussing on providing insightful and informative journalism through storytelling, commentary, and cultural conversation. Whilst the company's editorial networks are meant for entertainment purposes, they do this through a means that increases awareness and interest of affiliate brands. Generally, their digital content aims to lead readers to subscribe to a podcast, click a link, or purchase a product.
Marketing through digital publishing is nothing new, but Vox Media has approached this with an interesting perspective by focussing on producing content that inspires a reader to follow up on a brand, as opposed to being suggested to do so. This helps the content remain natural and legitimate, as opposed to feeling spammy and pushy. With numerous acquisitions at its back, and a recent and substantial investment in the company, Vox Media will continue scaling its existing brands and operations, as well as securing the resources to continue its ascent into the future.
