Manager of Strategic Finance, Instacart

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or other related field
• 6-8 years of work experience in a relevant field with demonstrated financial acumen and a track record of leveraging data for business impact
• Highly proficient in advanced Excel modeling with strong attention to detail
• Intermediate knowledge of SQL is required
• Ability to use data to identify and quantify opportunities for growth or profitability improvement
• Demonstrated experience thinking strategically about complex business problems, developing frameworks, and making decisions in areas involving judgment and ambiguity
• Polished communication skills and comfortable presenting recommendations to internal stakeholders, including senior leadership and C-Suite
• A self-starter with a positive attitude and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• We are looking for a Strategic Finance Manager of Marketing to join our team
• This role will be a key business partner to marketing leadership
• Along with supporting budgeting and forecasting, you will own the weekly & monthly business review processes and partner with key cross-functional stakeholders to uncover business insights and communicate learnings to marketing and finance leadership
• As a Strategic Finance Manager, you’re an experienced business partner who is comfortable advising the business on strategy, making decisions in situations involving judgment and ambiguity, and presenting your recommendations to senior leadership
• You have both the ability to operate at the lowest level of detail and consider the big picture to shape Instacart’s strategy and investments
• You have exceptional analytical capabilities and excel in data-driven decision-making, and you are able to effectively craft and present the narrative on marketing performance
• This role will report to the Director of Marketing Finance
• Own the weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual forecast for Performance Marketing by leveraging cross-functional partnerships with Marketing Channel Leads, Data Science, and Marketing Analytics
• Serve as the direct business partner to the head of Performance Marketing, and collaborate closely with Channel Leads to advise on investment opportunities, strategic recommendations, and the overall performance narrative of the portfolio
• Use your deep knowledge of Instacart’s product, customer base, and growth metrics to advise on large-scale campaigns and initiatives that drive acquisition, retention, and order frequency
• Improve and own the weekly business performance cadence to help identify areas where the business should double down and inform the weekly forecast
• Strengthen internal processes and cadence around Performance Marketing analysis, initiative approvals, and leadership updates
• Partner with DS and Growth teams on customer engagement and CAC/LTV analysis to guide our ongoing acquisition and retention strategies by channel
• Evaluate new business and marketing opportunities from a finance perspective and provide recommendations to marketing and finance leadership based on ROI, payback, and strategic value
• Develop, monitor, and drive a deeper understanding of our KPIs across the marketing organization and identify opportunities to improve existing reporting processes and key metrics tracking
• Partner closely with the head of Performance Marketing to form and manage the Growth Marketing plan to ensure our marketing actions and investments across the portfolio reflect our growth ambitions
• Conduct ad hoc financial modeling and analysis, such as building KPI-based models and using SQL to self-serve data for analyses
