Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of relevant coursework and job-related experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience testing web or mobile applications
- Solid understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and best practices
- Strong logical reasoning and analytical skills
- Proven ability to identify and create test cases for new features
- Experience working with and managing test cases in Jira
- Proficiency in Python scripting for test development or automation
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
Desirable
- Familiarity with integration testing involving embedded firmware or IoT systems
- Experience with automated testing frameworks, including Python BDD and Selenium
- Hands-on experience with development tools such as Visual Studio Code, PyCharm, or Xcode
- Exposure to AWS cloud services or cloud-based test environments
What the job involves
- This position is for a Cloud Test Engineer within Avive’s R&D organization
- The engineer will test Avive’s cloud-based products—including websites, APIs, and communication systems—through all stages of development, release, and maintenance
- While the primary focus is on software and cloud services, the role also involves using Avive’s hardware devices for system-level testing
- This position plays a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of Avive’s life-saving medical products
- Performs manual testing of websites across desktop, mobile, and tablet platforms
- Conducts end-to-end user testing involving both web applications and embedded devices
- Writes Python scripts to test APIs, communication protocols, and assist in test automation
- Analyzes software requirements for testability and designs comprehensive test suites to cover edge cases and expected behaviors
- Independently creates test protocols, test cases, and test reports based on requirements and system expectations
- Triages defects, identifies root causes, defines reproducibility steps for developers, and documents findings in Jira
- Supports testing across ad-hoc, targeted ticket testing, system-level, and formal verification stages
- Demonstrates an energetic, creative, and proactive attitude, thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative, goal-driven environment and motivating team members to meet tight schedules
Our take
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death in the US, taking the lives of over 350,000 people per year. Currently, the survival rate for SCA is extremely low, but chances rise substantially if treatment can be administered quickly.
Avive Solutions exists to support better survival rates for SCA. The idea is to supply normal people with the tools to save lives, by developing and supplying automated external defibrillators (AEDs). The company's machines, which are currently the most portable FDA-approved AEDs on the market, not only act as defibrillators but also connect to other devices for remote monitoring, and can communicate with 911.
With the ultimate vision that no witnessed SCA goes untreated, there is no denying that Avive's undertaking is a noble one. Its product has been recognised by the International Design Excellence Awards, and substantial growth funding will be used to build connected AED networks in cities that enable AEDs to be used on Sudden Cardiac Arrest cases well before emergency services can arrive on scene.
