Role
Who you are
- This role is ideal for someone with a strong infrastructure security foundation who’s ready to grow in a high-impact, remote-first environment
- You know how to secure the cloud: You have hands-on experience securing SaaS products and maintaining compliance with frameworks like SOC2,HIPAA/HITRUST, AWS FTR, or ISO 27001
- You have an understanding of modern cloud technology components and deployment patterns: Proficient with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), AWS, Kubernetes, and Python, Go or JavaScript. Experience with security tools like a CSPM (Wiz), vulnerability scanners, and lifecycle management solutions
- You take data governance infrastructure seriously: Whether it’s via database column tagging, leveraging inline data sanitization, or some combination, you’re familiar with securing data as it moves betweens systems
- Security Mindset: You understand modern deployment patterns (isolated VMs, k8s, serverless) and can identify and mitigate common cloud security risks
- Collaborative Approach: You work well with senior engineers, platform teams, and other security specialists, and you’re comfortable asking questions, reviewing code & design, sharing ideas, and learning from others
- Remote-Ready: You excel in asynchronous communication and self-manage effectively in a fully remote, distributed team
- Adaptable: You’ve experienced the fast pace of a growing company and can adjust processes and tools to fit evolving needs
- We're looking for the best fit for each of our roles, regardless of the type of companies in your background, so we encourage you to apply even if your skills and experiences don’t exactly match the job description
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Senior Infrastructure Security Engineer to help maintain and raise the security bar across our production environments
- In this role, you’ll contribute to designing and operating secure infrastructure, collaborating closely with senior engineers while taking ownership of well-defined initiatives
- Identify & Mitigate Risks: Spot and address security gaps in infrastructure to improve resilience and reduce risk
- Harden Infrastructure: Apply secure-by-default designs across data, endpoints, tools, and processes
- Build Scalable Processes: Collaborate on paved-path tooling and processes that enforce least-privilege access while enabling engineering velocity
- Develop & Audit IaC: Improve Terraform configurations for security, scalability, and reliability
- Triage Fleet Security Posture: Operate and maintain tools that detect and track misconfigurations and vulnerabilities; ensure timely patching and mitigation
- Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with Platform, Engineering, and other Security teams to provide guidance and ad hoc support
- Incident handling: Active understanding and exercise of incident handling execution (detect, contain, remediate, prevent) with systems-level thinking and ability to separate noise from signals
- You’ll join a collaborative, mission-driven security team where your work directly protects millions of users. You’ll have the autonomy to drive improvements while learning from seasoned security professionals, and you’ll do it all in a remote-first, flexible environment that values results over hours logged
Our take
Even before remote working became the "in thing", freelancers, small business owners, and large organisations have found themselves needing more and more software platforms to serve their operational needs. As people used more software services, Zapier founders saw the need to connect the actions between these software and save everyone some time.
Zapier is the largest integration and automation tool for businesses. Since its founding, Zapier has grown its suite of automation offerings across almost every mainstream software service. The company is one of the most successful to come out of Y Combinator and has also been a pioneer of remote working.
Zapier has so far been able to capitalise heavily on its advantage as one of the first entrants and has had very little actual competition. Software services aren't going anywhere anytime soon, and organisations are only going to need more of them. This puts Zapier in a strong position for growth, but also opens up room for bolder companies to get in on the action. Companies like Airtable and Integromat are already preying on more niche segments of Zapier's market share.

Additional info
- As a fully remote company with 800+ team members across 40+ states, 38 countries, and 18+ timezones, we’ve adopted a culture of asynchronous work. This work style allows teams to collaborate effectively across locations, time zones, skills, and each individual’s energy levels, and empowers employees to work in a setting that fits their needs. In practice, we live on Slack, with most conversations in public channels. It mimics the open-office feel and allows everyone to search the chat logs if they need to find something that happened when they weren’t around
