Role
Who you are
- We’re seeking a specialist with deep expertise in native Android development
- At Least 5 years of mobile development experience, specifically in Android
- Debugging and optimising native Android code
- Proficiency in Kotlin and Java for Android development
- Experience with Android Camera APIs to build custom camera modules
- Experience integrating native modules with React Native
- Understanding of the React Native bridge to facilitate communication between JavaScript and native code
- Strong skills in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving bugs
- Experience in performance tuning to ensure smooth camera functionality within the app
- Knowledge of mobile app development best practices, including memory management, security, and user experience considerations
- Proficiency with Git for version control and collaborative development
- Understanding the differences and similarities between iOS and Android to create a consistent camera experience across both platforms
- Ability to work effectively within a team, providing guidance and sharing knowledge as needed
Desirable
- Knowledge of Construction Industry and/or Fire Protection
- Has worked in a tech start-up or scale-up
- Experience working across both Android and iOS platforms
What the job involves
- We are seeking a talented Senior Android Developer on a contract basis to support us for 1-3 months on a project focusing on the development and improvement of our mobile application
- This project involves a comprehensive rebuild of the camera module in our mobile app, which is currently developed using React Native
- While third-party camera packages have served us well, we’ve identified opportunities to enhance performance and functionality beyond what these packages offer, particularly on the Android platform
- To achieve this, we’re focusing on developing a custom native camera module tailored specifically for Android, with plans to implement a similar approach in iOS upon the successful completion of this Android project
- The primary goal is to elevate the camera module’s capabilities by leveraging Android’s native language, ensuring optimal performance and addressing the advanced needs of our application
