Role
Who you are
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of experience building features used by millions of users
- 5+ years frontend feature development in partnership with Engineers, Product Managers, and Designers
- Experience creating and implementing plans for app rollout, experimentation, instrumentation and supportability
- Proficiency in any of the following languages and frameworks: NodeJS, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, ReactNative, and Expo
What the job involves
- As a Senior Software Engineer for membership rewards you will be a founding engineer owning the entire stack and be the technical leader for the team
- You will build consumer-facing features by contributing across the frontend and backend stack
- You will be an important technical voice in ensuring we build features that bring peace-of-mind to the users who trust Remitly everyday with their money
- This is a unique opportunity to solve large-scoped product problems and to contribute to technical and cultural foundations of a growing team
- You will be reporting to a Senior Engineering Manager for this role and work in a hybrid capacity from our Vancouver, BC office
- Be a Thought Leader: Own the technical charter of the team and guide the other engineers on the team to build features and advocate for trader offs and optimizations
- Execute with quality: Build responsibly and with confidence by writing performant, well-tested, and maintainable code
- Build delightful experiences: Work with the team to implement mobile app features that solve for our users. You will deploy your expertise in coding, testing, and supportability to ship innovations with high quality and velocity
- Be a Cultural Leader: Be a role model in upholding Remitly's cultural values and use them as a framework to coach other engineers on the team to achieve their full potential

Since its inception in 2011, Remitly has focussed on helping immigrants to send money across the world faster, cheaper and easier. The company has grown exponentially since then and now operates across multiple continents. Remitly put down most of its success on putting its customers first.
The emergence of digital banks with low transaction fees cross-country has increased competition in a space where Remitly was dominant for many years. The company must continue to innovate its product to ensure it is the go-to place for these types of payments.
That said, Remitly continues to partner with exciting companies and improve their service for loyal customers. The company is setting its sights beyond its core remittance service, such as through the introduction of Passbook, an app that allows customers to access digital banking through a partner bank.
