Role
Who you are
- We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our team as a full-time contractor
- 3–5+ years of experience as a data analyst, BI analyst, product analyst, or similar role
- Strong proficiency in SQL (Snowflake experience strongly preferred)
- Hands-on experience with dbt and modern ELT/analytics engineering best practices
- Strong experience with BI tools; Sigma experience a major plus
- Ability to translate business questions into technical requirements and analytical outputs
- Experience supporting cross-functional stakeholders (Sales, CS, Product highly preferred)
- High attention to detail and strong data quality mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong prioritization skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams independently
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth B2B SaaS environment
Desirable
- Experience with product analytics tools (e.g., Amplitude, Mixpanel, Heap)
- Experience with forecasting, propensity modeling, or other statistical techniques
- Prior work in early-stage or mid-stage SaaS startups
- Basic familiarity with Python or R for advanced analysis
What the job involves
- In this role, you will partner closely with departments across the company including Sales, Customer Success, Product, and Leadership to deliver high-quality analytics, reporting, and insights that drive strategic and operational decision-making across the company
- You’ll work within our modern data stack including Snowflake, dbt, and Sigma, to transform raw data into trusted dashboards, ad-hoc analyses, and actionable recommendations. This is a hands-on role that requires strong SQL skills, excellent communication, and the ability to juggle multiple requests at once
- Serve as the primary analytics partner for cross-functional stakeholders (Sales, CS, Product, Operations, Leadership)
- Create, maintain, and improve Sigma dashboards, reports, and deep-dive analyses
- Develop and optimize SQL queries and transformations in Snowflake
- Translate ambiguous business questions into clear analytical frameworks and data requirements
- Conduct exploratory data analysis and root-cause investigations
- Build and maintain metric definitions and data documentation
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across dashboards and analytical workflows
- Prioritize incoming data requests and manage expectations with stakeholders
- Identify trends, patterns, and opportunities to improve business performance
- Support experimentation and product analytics (e.g., usage patterns, cohort analysis)
Our take
Edtech company NoRedInk is on a mission to help students in grades 4-12 become better writers. The foundational issue the company addresses is that graded papers don’t offer meaningful feedback on how students can improve the quality of their writing and the basic problem they face is how to quantify and teach according to these unwritten rules.
The solution they’ve come up with is a platform that provides targeted, adaptive practice exercises built around engaging content that yields actionable data for educators to monitor a student’s progress. It might seem that this puts them in competition with the AI-based correction app Unicorn Grammarly, but this would be missing the point. The idea is to provide an interactive learning and teaching resource, not simply correct mistakes once made.
It’s won the platform impressive funding in recent years, boosted no doubt by surging VC interest in the edtech sector that’s seen investment in it rise to over $16B globally. With half of US school districts already using the platform, NoRedInk looks set to establish a leading position going forwards.
