Role
Who you are
- An ideal candidate is excited about working with data, enjoys coding, likes collaborating with others, has a natural curiosity and eagerness to solve both business and technical problems, and is excited about doing work that improves the lives of others
- BA/BS in Analytics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Epidemiology, Mathematics, Operations Research, or other quantitative discipline preferred
- 1-3 years of related work experience preferred. If no applicable working experience, advanced degree in applicable field preferred
- Desire and willingness to work across financial and clinical teams to translate business requests into meaningful output with feasible technical requirements. Outputs can include new analyses, scalable models, and ongoing reporting
- Experience preparing dashboards and presenting data using a data visualization tool (e.g., Power BI) preferred
- Experience working with object-oriented language (e.g. Python, R), querying databases (e.g. SQL), and an understanding of data structures are required
- High proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and advanced proficiency in Excel required
- Working knowledge of healthcare data strongly preferred, but not required
- Experience with Palantir Foundry a plus
What the job involves
- The Sr. Analytics Associate is a key member of the Health Plan Analytics team. This critical role will deliver insights for multiple teams including medical economics, population health, finance, & operations
- The role will be instrumental in helping Hopscotch drive truly best in class results
- In the first 12 months, this role will require a balance of ad hoc analysis, building reports/visualizations, and contributing to key data & analytical models for the organization
- All activities will be focused on driving success in a value-based care company that is on a mission to change healthcare for Medicare members in rural America
- With guidance from Medical Economics & Population Health teams, develop standard reporting packages for key performance indicators aimed at healthcare cost containment and optimization efforts
- Design and execute analyses that inform a deeper understanding of the Hopscotch patient base and subgroups
- Support care model initiative tracking, savings and ROI estimates, and KPI dashboards
- Coordinate with appropriate groups to troubleshoot issues and uncover improvement opportunities
- Partner with Population Health team, leveraging patient and medical expense analysis, to help shape and test hypotheses for delivering improved patient outcomes
- Collaborate effectively across stakeholders from different Hopscotch teams, earning the trust of key business partners
- Utilize Python, Palantir Foundry, Excel, Power BI, and other tools to define, extract, validate, shape, and interpret data to meet business needs. Accountable for accuracy of work product
- Review monthly payer claim, eligibility, and revenue data
- Must be able to travel to other company sites or business functions, as needed

Alarming statistics from the CDC highlight that individuals in these regions face a significantly higher risk of succumbing to heart disease, cancer, unintentional injury, chronic lower respiratory disease, and strokes.
While the concept of value-based healthcare, a model where healthcare providers are compensated based on patient health outcomes rather than sheer sales and services, is gaining traction and efficacy in urban areas, rural communities continue to lag behind, mirroring the disparities seen in traditional healthcare frameworks.
Despite being in early development, Hopscotch Health's trajectory largely hinges on its ability to establish valuable partnerships with payers, healthcare providers, practitioners, and the communities themselves. Nevertheless, there is ample room for optimism, given the substantial potential within an underserved market.
