This isn't a heads-down data entry role. It's a position for someone who takes ownership, communicates proactively across the organization, and brings precision to work that moves quickly
You're comfortable owning the full accounting cycle — from processing vendor invoices and reconciling corporate card transactions to following up on outstanding balances. You find satisfaction in the steady rhythm of month-end close, and you stay grounded when priorities shift week to week
You know how to work across an organization. Getting what you need — a receipt from a team lead, a W-9 from a contractor, an approval from a department head — comes naturally to you because you invest in relationships and follow up without letting things slip
You exercise good judgment, take initiative, and bring a sense of order to whatever you're working on. You don't need every answer handed to you — you're comfortable making a call and moving forward
Bachelors degree in Accounting or other related field
3+ years of relevant experience in accounts payable/accounts receivable
Knowledge of general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close processes
Strong attention to detail, organization, and daily/monthly deadlines
Experience with accounting software (NetSuite and Bill.com preferred)
High degree of comfort with Excel and/or Google Sheets
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments

What the job involves

Galileo's finance team keeps a fast-moving healthcare company financially healthy — and this role is at the center of that work. As Staff Accountant, you'll own the full AP cycle, contribute to month-end close, and manage compliance processes that keep us audit-ready and operationally sound
This is a fully remote position, reporting into the Accounting Manager
Ensure thorough review of vendor invoices, maintain accurate billing information, and facilitate timely communication with vendors and internal departments
Participate in month-end close processes; perform monthly accounting activities such as posting accrual and prepaid journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
Manage, reconcile, and obtain all receipts for corporate card transactions, including T&E, and ensure all items are submitted timely and accurately
Generate monthly invoices, assess and manage customer account balances, and proactively notify customers of insufficient payments
Assist with internal and external audits
Manage the 1099 process end-to-end, including collection of W-9s, preparation, filing, and distribution to contractors, ensuring compliance with IRS requirements and deadlines
Track and manage annual state report filings for all legal entities, ensuring compliance with state requirements and timely submission deadlines
Track and manage capitalized software (internal-use software), including evaluation of capitalization criteria, maintenance of amortization schedules, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards
Prepare accounting reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
Assist with additional ad hoc requests and projects for the Finance and Accounting departments as well as other departments as assigned

Our take

Due to time, language barrier, transport and financial constraints, many Medicaid users in America find it difficult to actually see a doctor for their ailments. Galileo was founded by Thomas Lee as a digital and in person strategy to improve medical care and customer service, providing communication with medical practitioners and aiming for faster medical access than other Medicaid packages can offer.

Utilizing not only medical but software expertise, Galileo provides 24 hour access to medical professionals for its users, and consults with businesses and medical care packages to ensure the best care models for their respective customers too.

In order to boost its network, the company announced its partnership with Wellcare in 2023, giving Medicare Advantage members access to Galileo's primary and multispecialty care. More recently, it has expanded further through a collaboration with Emory Healthcare, combining Galileo's digital-first care model with a major provider network to reach more patients across Georgia. Together, these partnerships show Galileo's push to scale access to care.
