What the job involves
- Reporting to our Head of Product, Engineering and Design, we are looking for a technical Engineering Lead to lead our Integrations Engineering team of 8 Engineers
- Integrations Engineering is responsible for scaling Pinwheel’s core payroll connectivity products (Deposit Switch, Income & Employment Verification, Taxes) while bringing new products (Bill Navigator) to market
- You’ll be in the code every day, while also playing a critical role in setting direction and priorities for your team
- You’ll lead, coach, and grow the team to deliver value for our customers while keeping our systems reliable, secure, and performant
- Write code every day to support and expand Pinwheel’s connectivity products - including PreMatch, our partnerships with payroll providers
- Lead, coach, and enable a stellar team of engineers to drive growth, ownership, and impact
- Collaborate with Product to shape our product roadmap
- Prioritize work to maximize the impact of your team
- Build a powerhouse team through coaching, career development, and hiring
- Be accountable for your team’s results
- Help enhance our great engineering culture
- Identify headcount needs for the team and recruit high-caliber engineering talent
Our take
Pinwheel builds an API that helps Neobanks access and modify their customers' payroll services. It's primarily focused on enabling easy direct-deposit switches in order to promote a fairer financial system for all.
Pinwheel is laser-focused on perfecting UX and product integration in this area, which has won the company coverage of over 70% of paid Americans, and nearly half of all Neobank direct-deposit switches. This secure market position will help it comfortably expand its client services into other API offerings like income verification.
As the US begins to competitively adopt the Open Banking methods already popular in the EU, Pinwheel has made some strategic partnerships, including Lumin Digital, Visa and Bankjoy. These collaborations are driving increased account activation and deposit growth for financial institutions, positioning Pinwheel as a key player in Open Banking methods.
