Who you are
- Excel at advanced statistical and machine learning modeling, turning data from different channels - transactions, CRM systems, customer engagement platforms, web analytics, and marketing automation tools - into actionable insights that empower revenue stakeholders to make impactful decisions
- Have experience collaborating with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Customer Experience, and Customer Support teams, deeply understanding their needs, business use cases, and data requirements
- Have strong technical and conceptual experience in the revenue space, including multi-touch attribution, linear and logistic regression, customer segmentation and clustering, churn risk prediction, and engagement scoring—enabling data-driven strategies that directly accelerate growth and retention
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or similar role, ideally within a growth, revenue, or marketing analytics function
- Logistic/linear regression, clustering, and segmentation
- Machine learning techniques (e.g., classification, regression, ensemble methods)
- Time series forecasting and anomaly detection
- Causal inference and experimentation design
- Building and validating predictive models at scale
- Expert proficiency in SQL and at least one statistical programming language (e.g., Python, R), and familiarity with machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, or similar
- Experience with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Mode, Tableau) and modern data stack environments (e.g., dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery)
- A strong business acumen with a deep curiosity about how data can drive decisions
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills—you make data come alive
What the job involves
- As a Data Scientist on the Revenue Team, you’ll be our go-to expert on the customer journey—from first touch through retention—and the data behind it
- You’ll leverage your deep statistical and machine learning expertise to understand and optimize every stage of the funnel, working closely with marketing, sales, and customer success to drive revenue growth
- You’ll own the development and execution of sophisticated models and analyses that help us identify opportunities, reduce churn, personalize engagement, and ultimately grow Givebutter’s customer base
- Manage the inflow of data requests from revenue stakeholders, ensuring adequate two-way communication on needs, expectations, and progress, and high quality, timely delivery
- Be the subject matter expert on the customer funnel, leading the charge in deepening the company’s understanding of what drives acquisition, conversion, engagement, and retention through behavioral insights

- Communicate complex findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Gain a deep understanding of the revenue team’s business needs and data sources, partnering with stakeholders to understand what’s needed in the short- and medium-term
- Working with our analytics engineer, develop the definition, logic, and documentation of the data model that supports these needs, with a focus on quality, usability, adaptability, and clear communication/documentation in a fast-changing environment

Our take
The rise of crowdfunding has helped democratize fundraising for for-profit companies, but the infrastructure for non-profits has lagged behind. Givebutter has set out to change this, supplying a feature-rich, easy to use fundraising platform for the "changemakers of today", which has been used to raise billions of dollars for good causes.
Crucially, unlike other crowdfunding platforms, 100% of the donation typically goes to the campaign, with Givebutter making its money entirely through tips and occasional but transparent transaction fees. In 2022, the company raised capital that has been put to work developing the product to be fit for all types of fundraising.
Having already seen impressive success in certain segments, these new development efforts will help expand Givebutter's reach. For example, it launched a CRM to help it reach more small, local nonprofits, and has released the industry's first donor-advised fund (DAF) donate button, through which donors can recommend a nonprofit for a donation in just three clicks.
