Role
Who you are
- At least seven (7) years of relevant software development experience
- Advanced proficiency of a relevant programming language (Java, JavaScript, Kotlin, Go, and/or Python)
- Effective technical leadership abilities
- Ability to raise the technical bar for how we develop complex, scalable, and reliable systems
- Proven experience working with distributed, highly available systems
- Proficiency in a technical stack from infrastructure to application code
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with innovative application design and implementation
- Effective problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to step up to address difficult issues, saying what needs to be said
- Ability to actively seek new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development challenges

What the job involves
- The Sr. Software Engineer II designs, develops, tests, deploys, maintains, and improves software
- They work on one or more software systems and help develop large software systems and/or security software development
- The Sr. Engineer delivers individual projects based upon deadlines and required deliverables
- They build complex features independently and collaborate with other teams to conduct software design and code reviews
- They develop and/or provide technical leadership in the development of software involving application of new technologies with significant technical risk
- The Sr. Engineer prepares detailed plans, which may span over a year for programs or complex projects
- They determine test philosophy, goals, and objectives and participate in the formation of project goals, scope, and schedule
- The Sr. Engineer mentors other engineers and makes a significant contribution to their team
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software
- Participate in team meetings including grooming sessions, project planning, and other aspects of the agile development lifecycle. Act as technical expert and advise junior developers on industry best practice
- Act as technical liaison to product development team and advise product management on best technical paths to solve business problems
- Help level up the team through mentorship and design techniques
- Participate in on call rotations

Whilst many of the services provided by Pax8 are already included in cloud software applications, the company has made the smart move of partnering with software providers such as Bam Boom Cloud to unify all management tools into a single platform. By ensuring companies can browse, purchase, and manage cloud solutions within the marketplace, the company aims to increase accessibility and minimise complexities associated with cloud computing.
