Role
Who you are
- BS, MS or PhD in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 8+ months of professional experience on software engineering and web application development at scale
- Experience designing, building large systems at enterprise
- Strong programming and data engineering in one or more backend server languages (Java/Python/Ruby/Go/TypeScript/etc.)
- Experience with web development best practices such as container, docker, continuous integration and continuous deployment
- Proficiency with RDBMS such as MySQL/PostgreSQL
- Ability to effectively communicate with non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to take a thoughtful, pragmatic, and efficient approach to problem-solving
- Passion to up-level yourself and those around you through curiosity, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment
- Experience with JavaScript backend frameworks such as Express/Node.js/Nest.js is preferred
- Experience with LLM and other related frameworks like Langchain, LLamaIndex
Desirable
- Experience using TypeScript on the backend is preferred
- Experience with data pipeline and data driven analytics
- Experience with any of these DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, Authorization, Authentication, Search Infrastructure (Elastic Search)
- Experience with deploying or leveraging ML model and LLM to power business. Having decent understanding of ML essentials and having a background to work and speak the same language with data scientists
- Experience with state-of-the-art LLMs techniques, models and vendors
- Strong experience with popular AI/ML libraries and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
What the job involves
- The Servicing Platform team is the core engineering organization sitting at the center of all programs of Newfront. Its mission is to build a world class platform to enable clients to create, manage, understand and use their insurance and empower insurance professionals to serve clients
- It is a high-impact org and owns multiple domains such as:
- Core insurance data platform to power all insurance products, operations and intelligence
- Admin ecosystem to empower insurance professional to service and marketing insurance
- Client facing ecosystem to empower clients to understand, manage and use their insurance and manage their risks
- Emerging AI / LLM powered applications to supercharge both clients and admin to automate insurance operations and usage
- Be a crucial contributor within Newfront’s Servicing Platform Engineering Team, working through ambiguity, concept validation and implementing a best-in-class solution. The team owns a large scope including but not limited to core insurance data foundation, end to end insurance servicing experience, and admin servicing tooling ecosystem. You will be participating in major initiatives across all domains
- Identify areas of improvement and drive foundation opportunities on the web and backend
- Collaborate with cross-functional design, product, and data science teams to design and deliver high-quality products and influence outcomes
- Follow data-driven approaches to iterate product features
- Help cultivate innovation and growth by contributing to cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams
- In the AI domain, implement the rapid prototyping of software applications applying AI / ML technologies. Serve as the software generalist and participate in development process from ML model design and implementation to backend and frontend development

Newfront merged with ABD Insurance, a B2B insurance provider focusing on employee benefits and financial services programs. Together, they are working to write $2B in premiums annually and occupy a more significant slice of the business insurance market. Funding is being invested into both US expansion and building the modern platform for clients, insurance professionals, and trading partners.
