Who you are
- The ideal candidate has an impressive track record of shipping impactful AI products, and experience building/leading ML/DS/DE teams
- Degree in Computer Science or Engineering with 5+ years of industry experience
- Strong technical & coding background
- Excellent Python and object-oriented coding skills
- Strong experience designing, training, and evaluating modern ML/deep learning architectures with a good understanding of statistical techniques
- Experience with LLMs
- Experience working with time-series data
- Experience leading and building a world class team
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Head of AI to innovate our core product features
- You will be responsible for using AI to uplevel the personalization, dynamic learning, and insight capability of our products
- Your work will improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of users and will further our core mission of improving sleep and saving lives
- Lead a team that applies AI to our core software and hardware products
- Decide on the best model/architecture to use for each application, and lead the implementation of it
- Coordinate with the software/ML Ops team to incorporate design into production
- Advance the field of AI for sleep and health, and publish your work at top conferences and journals

The last decade has seen a major uptick in the number of startups and companies dedicated to supporting consumers to build good health habits, typically around food and fitness. That enthusiasm is now quite rightly being extended to how we sleep.
Eight Sleep makes “smart” mattresses and mattress covers (for regular mattresses) that use machine learning and other artificial intelligence-based algorithms to improve your sleep both by changing temperature and monitoring other physical parameters to provide an overall picture of your health.
The company is focused on two levers for growth. First, building out more technology through additional products and acquisitions, exemplified by the introduction of Span Health’s fitness-tracking app. Secondly, international expansion in Europe, where it has got off to an impressive start in the UK.
