Who you are
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Robotics, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Enthusiasm for learning and a proactive attitude
- Experience with CAD software such as Onshape, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD is highly desirable
- Basic knowledge or interest in CNC Machining and/or prototyping techniques is an advantage
- Fast learning and quick to grasp complex topics
- A team player with a hands-on mentality

What the job involves
- Support our engineering team in developing and scaling cutting-edge technologies
- This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced deep-tech environment, contributing to real-world projects in a climate tech startup!
- Assist with design and development of mechanical components and systems, contributing to key engineering projects
- Support CAD modeling using tools like Onshape, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD to create prototypes and technical drawings
- Help with assembly and testing of prototypes, including setting up test rigs for component and subsystem verification
- Collaborate on rapid prototyping and troubleshoot mechanical and electronic systems with the team
- Gain exposure to scaling manufacturing equipment and processes, including industrial systems such as HVAC and central cooling solutions
- Assist with data analysis, test reporting, and documentation to enhance product design and performance
- You will work on the biggest problem of our time, climate change, with the potential to impact the lives of billions of people
- Full responsibility to design your own workstream and control your working hours with a very high degree of freedom, flat hierarchy and teamwork

Our take
Climate change is a pressing issue, with CO2 being the major contributor to global warming. While reducing emissions is essential, removing CO2 from the atmosphere is also crucial. Direct Air Capture (DAC) technologies offer a promising solution to tackle this problem by extracting CO2 directly from the air.
Ucaneo is addressing this challenge with its DAC technology, which mimics the human lungs to capture CO2 using electricity and a special solvent at room temperature. This system is designed to be energy-efficient and compatible with renewable energy sources, making it adaptable and effective for large-scale CO2 removal.
Recently the company secured significant funding which will help it build a major DAC facility in Germany as well as develop its first industrial product. With this support, Ucaneo aims to capture 0.5 gigatons of CO2 by 2035, significantly contributing to the global CO2 reduction effort.
