Who you are
- 12+ years of experience in People Ops and Total Rewards, with significant experience operating at scale - 1,000-5,000+ headcount
- High depth of experience in both People Ops (incl compliance, mobility, policies, people systems, and people analytics) and Total Rewards (including compensation, executive compensation, and benefits, especially providing benefits at scale)
- Impeccable people management skills - every person you’ve ever managed should respect you as a leader, coach, and mentor
- A strong analytical mind, and the skill to develop a point of view on any problem quickly and without personal bias
- A data-first orientation in all problem solving
- High resilience and calm, balanced with a high bias toward delivering outcomes quickly
What the job involves
- As Head of People Ops and Total Rewards at Vanta, you will lead our core People Operations and Total Rewards functions and help us scale them from several hundred to several thousand Vanta’ns
- The mission of Vanta’s People Team is to enable all Vanta’ns, worldwide, to do the best work of their careers. Vanta’s People Team accomplishes this mission by being relentlessly focused on our business and driving business outcomes - and doing so in a data-driven and business-minded way
- All of our People Team functions are efficiently staffed and high performing, earning tremendous trust in our business; and most of our People Team teammates are embedded with the Vanta departments that they support, to drive better alignment and help those teams achieve their business outcomes
- Our Head of People Ops and Total Rewards will be highly analytical, thoughtful, business-oriented, humble, and low ego, and will have a playbook (that can be modified to be “Vanta-specific”) on how to scale People Ops and Total Rewards to provide top notch service, compensation, and benefits to every Vanta’n, worldwide
- Lead our People Ops, Compensation, and Benefits teams, along with leading and building other teams that are part of People Ops (e.g., People Systems, People Analytics)
- Partner closely with our senior leadership to build efficient, scalable, best-in-class systems and processes to support Vanta’s people growth
- Drive upward and outward reporting and visibility for all People Team functions, clearly and frequently explaining our impact to the broader organization
- Drive long-term improvements in People Ops, Compensation, and Benefits systems and processes, particularly from the perspective of anticipating challenges of future scale before they materialize and building for the future
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and support for our awesome People Ops and Compensation teams, and continue hiring A+ teammates to scale them
- Help provide meaningful, and current, benchmarking of best practices across all People Team functions - while not being beholden to any HR playbook and rethinking everything from the ground up in keeping with Vanta’s principles and high level of action-orientation and operational rigor and excellence

The security auditing process is usually very time-consuming, taking hours to complete, and it is often difficult for start-ups to invest time into such a process. Yet, the benefits of security accreditation are enormous, mainly as many such businesses are working globally and need ways to demonstrate security compliance to one another. Vanta works specifically with start-ups to help them complete and pass security audits such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
The company is a compliance portal and security monitoring platform that businesses use to assess their risk levels. Vanta carries out a pre-audit of a company's digital security and highlights areas that need to be worked on before a full analysis of all threats is carried out. Other businesses such as Datadog or PagerDuty offer similar security monitoring services, but Vanta monitors its customers throughout the year, allowing any issues to be identified and addressed early on.
Vanta has found a valuable cybersecurity niche within the giant SaaS market. Companies such as Lattice, Clubhouse, and Calm are all customers, demonstrating a growing trend for companies to manage their cybersecurity proactively, which Vanta should be able to take advantage of to further grow and develop into the future.
