Company mission

To bridge artificial intelligence to the most sensitive industrial and advanced manufacturing applications around the globe.

Role

Who you are

  • A semiconductor background is not required
  • Successful candidates have a strong entrepreneurial instinct -- and capacity for driving mission-critical impact on demanding timelines, through full cycle engineering
  • There is no single background that fits this role. We look for resumes that show a history of drive, clarity of mind, and engineering impact, and we believe strongly that these traits could come from anywhere
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 4+ years of prior engineering technical leadership experience
  • Experience in enterprise software and/or industrials (advanced manufacturing, semiconductors)
  • Strong software engineering skills, especially in building complex, distributed systems around AI technologies and multimodal data
  • Strong understanding of AI product evaluation metrics
  • Experience instantiating and scaling deep tech products at high-growth startups operating in high-stakes or regulated environments

Desirable

  • Meaningful experience working and building within or for the semiconductor industry, and developing hardware products or software for hardware products
  • Deep curiosity for or experience in semiconductors and physics
  • Former zero-to-one engineering lead or startup founder with demonstrated track record of building customer-facing AI products through entire lifecycle from inception to business success
  • World-class communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management abilities
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Semiconductors, Computer Science, Statistics or similar field, or Master of Science or Business Administration degrees

What the job involves

  • At Normal, you will be responsible for operating like a CTO on our team of Software Engineers in the fast-paced acceleration of our first commercial product, Adam
  • We are hiring senior generalist individual contributors with specializations across product UX, AI libraries and backend systems, and AI infrastructure
  • Drive projects from concept to production deployment typically focusing within product UX, AI libraries, systems, or full-stack AI infrastructure
  • Interfacing directly with Fortune 500 customers and users across the semiconductor industry, and industrials more broadly
  • Spearhead 0-1 projects from feature prototyping to deployment, advancing state-of-the-art auto-formalizing AI systems for complex design and simulation problems in hardware engineering
  • Drive alongside world-class software engineers (frontend, backend, and infrastructure) from Google Brain, Meta, Amazon AGI, and other top-tier AI groups and enterprise startups
  • Contribute to comprehensive engineering roadmaps that align with company goals and product strategy
  • Contribute to or interface with tooling and infrastructure projects to improve model training, experimentation, and enterprise product deployment infrastructure
  • Operate in a metrics and measurement-led culture designing and challenging benchmarks to continually measure quality and robustness of solutions
  • Travel to summits with our semiconductor partners
  • Go the extra mile to assure success for our partners and your team
  • Uphold a collaborative, growth-oriented environment that promotes kindness, empathy, transparency and eagerness
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Artificial Intelligence, Electronic Design Automation, and distributed software infrastructure

Our take

As the rate of AI adoption accelerates, Normal Computing sets out to make it more usable and scalable for enterprises, where risk is a central barrier to its implementation. The hope is that this will allow enterprises to make use of technologies such as Generative AI which has so far only been considered appropriate for early consumer applications.

The company's Probabilistic AI gives control over reliability, adaptivity, and auditability to AI models powered by its customers' private data. It boasts the ability to support such applications as automating complex underwriting processes, generating and validating specialized code, and mitigating risks in situations where the conditions are dynamic and fluctuating.

By targeting a major roadblock to enterprise AI adoption, Normal Computing has the chance to make a major (and profitable) contribution to accelerating complex AI use cases. The company has raised considerable funding to support its endeavours, which it will use to double down on the R&D of its application development platform and Probabilistic AI technology.
