Role
Who you are
- You're excited by the challenge of enhancing the Expel Workbench platform for our analysts and customers
- You enjoy collaborating with product managers and UX designers to translate requirements into technical implementations
- You're comfortable working across the full stack, from front-end development using Ember.js or React.js to back-end development with technologies such as Node.js, Python or Go
- You value clean code, thorough code reviews, and contributing to a supportive team environment
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and experience building complex web applications using modern frameworks (Ember.js and React.js)
- Proven experience with Node.js and at least one other relevant programming language (Python and Go)
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, including version control (Git), CI/CD tools, and observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Experience writing and maintaining automated tests (unit and integration tests)
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills (in English)
- Ability to work effectively remotely within a team and across departments
- 5+ years of professional experience in web application development in large-scale, complex systems
- Computer Science degree or software development bootcamp certification preferred
- Adaptability and a willingness to learn new technologies
- Experience mentoring and guiding other engineers

- The Workbench Engineering Team is dedicated to elevating the Expel Workbench experience
- As a founding member of the Ireland team, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of this platform, empowering our analysts and customers with an even more effective and intuitive tool
- You will be building our team culture from the ground up, aligned with our shared goals, and working alongside other teams to achieve common objectives, drawing on their collective expertise
- Build and maintain critical features of the Expel Workbench, directly enhancing the analyst and customer experience
- Translate product requirements into technical implementations, collaborating with product managers and UX designers
- Deliver high-quality, clean, and maintainable code, adhering to coding standards and participating in code reviews
- Collaborate across teams (User Experience, Product, Core Engineering, Data, and Product Security) to solve complex engineering challenges
- Ensure system reliability and performance by monitoring, fixing, and optimizing production applications
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment
- Take ownership of collaborative practices, actively participating in pair programming and design discussions

As ransomware and hacking threats rise, identifying and resolving breaches in security must be done quickly. Lack of transparency in cyber-security makes it difficult for engineers to detect, understand, and fix the issues as fast as possible. Expel is aiming to redefine what a security operations center and managed detection service looks like in the modern age.
Though the company faces competition from the vast number of cybersecurity platforms, Expel positions itself as a viable alternative to the service delivery model of managed security service providers (MSSPs) by offering a comprehensive management platform that connects to its customers’ tech remotely through APIs, providing fast detection and clear solutions.
Having reached unicorn status, the company is establishing a stronger presence in the European and Asia-Pacific markets, capturing business in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Singapore. Its 2022 funding is being used to accelerate sustainable growth, continue the company's international expansion, and push forward with go-to-market initiatives.
