Who you are
- B.S., or M.S. in Computer Science or similar technical field of study (or equivalent practical experience)
- Proficient in distributed micro-services development, specifically with Python or Java
- Experience with databases, SQL, NoSQL, OLAP, and/or data lake architectures
- Proven ability to collaborate with and mentor other engineers
- A rapid learner with robust analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Interest in building data pipelines and in working with Big-data
What the job involves
- We are currently seeking a Software Engineer to join our Reference Data team
- The reference data team at Addepar is responsible to manage the data reconciliation and curation process for market data providers to build a single source of truth and provide alignment across public and alternative investment data products for the client to manage their investment portfolio
- As an engineer on the team you will partner with product teams at Addepar to understand their business needs
- You’ll contribute to increasingly challenging engineering projects with the ultimate goal of enabling solutions and effective use of the data platform
- Our engineering team primarily works with PySpark, Python, AWS, Terraform, Java, and Kubernetes
- We use Agile methodologies to deliver on business outcomes
- You'll own features, work alongside and learn from senior engineers, and ship code
- Learn and demonstrate engineering standard processes and principles
- Document software functionality, system design, and project plans; this includes clean, readable code with comments
- Produce a retrospective and demonstrate your summer project to an internal audience
- Collaborate closely with our engineering leads to define and implement our platform architecture to meet Addepar’s growth and scalability needs
- Evaluate and drive strategic business and technology decisions for the company and for customers

The platform aggregates portfolio, market, and client data in one place, allowing financial professionals to analyse and visualise the data they need.
Addepar currently tracks around $6 trillion of assets serving over 800 clients, including individual advisers, family offices, and large institutions such as AllianceBernstein, Bartlett Wealth Management, and Morgan Stanley.
The multi-unicorn company has been pursuing global expansion, opening its first office outside of the United States in Scotland in 2021 and a new London office in late 2022. It appointed new leadership members from companies like Oracle and Amazon Web Services. A Series G investment in 2025 will further accelerate its momentum as it continues to innovate its suite of solutions.
