Role
Who you are
- 5–7 years of hands-on PPC experience, ideally in-house at a product company rather than agency-side
- You've personally run accounts with £500k+ in spend and high click and conversion volume, and you can talk in detail about what you changed and what happened as a result
- You're fluent in bidding strategy, account structure and automated campaign types, and you know when not to trust them
- You think in full user journeys (impression, evaluation, intent, conversion, remarketing), not just traffic
- You've launched products or channels, cut budgets, or driven metrics under pressure. Startup or scale-up experience matters more to us than a long tenure at an established brand
- You're a constant learner. Search is changing fast with AI, and you have opinions on where it's going because you've tested things yourself
- You're comfortable working directly with engineers, marketers and founders, and you can make your case with data
- Experience in health or another regulated category (such as finance) is a strong advantage
What the job involves
- Paid search drives most of our patient traffic today. We run a seven-figure-a-year paid search account, and small gains compound fast: a 10% lift in conversion is worth hundreds of thousands of pounds a year to us
- We're hiring a founding performance marketer to take paid search into an excellent patient acquisition engine, and then build out our next paid channels. This is a founding role, not a "BAU" or "maintenance" role
- Our entire Google Ads account, end to end: Search, Performance Max, Demand Gen and AI Max campaigns across multiple geographies
- Bidding strategy and budget allocation, with a sharp eye on cost per click, cost per conversion and search impression share
- A real experimentation programme covering bidding, audiences, ads, assets and landing pages, not just nudging CPA targets
- Keyword and search term strategy: expansion, negatives, match types, and finding high-intent queries others miss
- Ad and asset testing, working with our growth marketer on copy and creative
- The full journey from impression to booked appointment. You'll work directly with our engineers and product team on landing pages, search results and the booking flow so that paid traffic actually converts
- Privacy-safe measurement: conversion tracking and attribution that meets health-data standards and ad platform healthcare policies
- New paid channels: Microsoft Ads, remarketing, and emerging AI search and assistant platforms
- What success looks like:
- Paid search is fully in-house, and every pound has a clear owner and a clear rationale
- Cost per conversion and wasted spend are measurably down, and impression share is up in our priority areas
- A regular testing cadence is producing learnings that feed back into product and marketing
- You've built the case for our next paid channel, and launched its first campaigns
- Engineering and product treat you as the voice of paid traffic when they shape the booking journey
- Channels and tools:
- Core: Google Ads (Search, PMax, Demand Gen, AI Max)
- Next: Microsoft Ads, remarketing, AI platforms
- Analytics: PostHog and platform reporting, with SQL a plus

Our take
The NHS is one of the few totally publicly-funded healthcare services in the world, and has treated millions of people since 1948. However, growing pressures from an ageing population, higher patient expectations and the after-effects of the pandemic are having a negative effect on the system’s ability to serve patients with the care they deserve.
A major factor in the NHS’s struggles is the time its staff and patients spend on administrative tasks, such as patient registration, which is what Healthtech-1 hopes to address. The company develops automation tools that it describes as the "front door" of UK healthcare. In short, it has developed a single platform where patients can instantly find the service and location that suit their needs and seamlessly book an appointment in the process. Utilising the power of AI, Healthtech-1 is building critical booking infrastructure, making healthcare accessible and simple for patients and clinicians across the UK.
The company boasts support from NHS Digital as well as Innovate UK and Y-Combinator, and is clearly targeting a valuable problem. With its patient registration product now live across 26% of NHS GP Practices, and its second product, Bookable Search, now used by over 20% of London, it's no surprise that in 2025, Sifted named it the 8th fastest-growing startup in the UK. It will be interesting to see how Healthtech-1 can further support the NHS moving forward.
