Role
Who you are
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in product marketing for an online community, in the developer space/ecosystem, or similar field/organization
- Experience developing and maintaining user personas, product positioning and messaging, collateral, user training/demos, and product launches
- Experience working with product teams to build and market features and functionality to improve user onboarding, growth, and/or gamification for online communities
- Experience partnering with Product, Research, Community, Product Design, Customer Success, Marketing, and Design teams
- Excellent writing and communication skills. You’re comfortable presenting to users and peers
- Experience analyzing data to define success metrics and using available insights to tell a story
What the job involves
- We’re adding a Product Marketing Manager, Community Products to own all aspects of product marketing for new features and functionality we introduce on our sites to increase awareness, activation, repeat engagement/contributions, and retention
- Become an expert on the Stack Overflow product and the needs of our users
- Develop clear product messaging. Use research and insights to create compelling value propositions and help shape future product development
- Manage the launch of new features and functionality. You’ll work cross-functionally with colleagues in Product Management, Research and Design, Community, Brand, and Marketing
- Liaise with other Product Marketing Managers to understand how new public platform features relate to our paid products and other business strategies
- Own the development of marketing collateral to promote features and benefits to our users. Manage internal and external resources to produce these assets
- Partner with Community, Product Management and Product Design to develop user-facing training and in-product messaging to support onboarding and drive adoption/engagement
- Partner with Marketing to develop programs and campaigns that generate awareness for Stack Overflow

Stack Overflow is one of the 50 most popular websites worldwide: a Q&A style forum for developers, gamified with upvotes, downvotes, and badges, with over 14 million registered users and upwards of 21 million questions. It's grown to become a go-to resource in the community.
The site has proven a good springboard into providing other knowledge sharing services too - most notable among which is the company’s teams platform. This, along with advertising and jobs listings make for a strong revenue model that saw the company valued at well over $1B when it was acquired back in 2021.
This pricey acquisition means Stack Overflow has a secure buffer it can use to expand. This is taking the form of partnerships with Google Cloud to boost GenAI capabilities, growing its global product audience so it can boost revenue - as things stand, its team's platform is used mainly in the US. If Stack Overflow can get a foothold in developing countries like India and Brazil, it could continue its strong history of impressive growth.
