Role
Who you are
- This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, loves crafting compelling narratives, and enjoys both strategy and execution

- We are looking for a strategic yet execution-focused marketing pro who is eager to build from the ground up
- 5-6 years of experience in marketing at a B2B SaaS startup (ideally in vertical SaaS)
- Familiarity with a wide variety of marketing channels in order to shape our strategy
- A track record of owning marketing campaigns end-to-end, from idea to execution
- Storytelling superpowers - with a deep understanding of how to communicate a brand’s value proposition to its target audience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to easily build trust with a diverse group of stakeholders, including public defenders
- Data-driven mindset - comfortable analyzing marketing performance and optimizing accordingly
- Experience working with freelancers and agencies to scale marketing efforts when needed
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, startup environment
- Passion for the racial and economic justice issues that motivate this work
- Empathetic team member that contributes to work culture that centers kindness, respect, and inclusivity

What the job involves
- As our Marketing Lead, you will own and execute initiatives that drive brand awareness, credibility, and lead generation
- Event Marketing – Expand our presence at industry events, partner with associations, and create engaging webinars that connect us with public defenders
- Content & Thought Leadership – Develop compelling, SEO-optimized content (landing pages, blog posts, social, sales materials) that highlights our product, mission, and impact
- Press & Earned Media – Secure media coverage by crafting strong press pitches and managing relationships with journalists across local, national, and industry-specific outlets
- Website Optimization – Ensure our site always reflects the best version of our brand and messaging
- Performance Analysis – Measure ROI across initiatives, refine strategies based on data, and ensure marketing efforts are driving leads and top-line growth

Our take
Public defenders are underpaid and overworked, and technological advancements in evidence discovery are is only making things worse. When defending a client they can be overwhelmed with a deluge of digital information, making it a heroic task to find the relevant evidence that might help in court. Enter JusticeText, a startup which stores, analyses and shares evidence, making it easily accessible and searchable to public defenders.
This solution has been taken up with enthusiasm, and is already live in more than 50 public defender agencies including the District of Columbia, New York and Virginia. Lawyers have reported a 30-50% increase in time savings, and the technology is mature enough to be trusted to prioritise video evidence, allowing defenders to focus on only the footage that is likely to be useful for their caseload.
JusticeText has closed a seed funding round led by Bloomberg Beta and True Ventures. It is looking to scale their impact by bringing in new talent, recruiting especially in customer relations, marketing and business operations in order to expand its network of attorneys.
