Who you are

Expert-level experience with modern PHP (8.2+), Symfony (6.4+), and REST API design
Experience and interest in infrastructure as code (Terraform/Ansible), release management, and security best practices
3-7 years of experience in full stack development

Desirable

Experience with modern Angular development (Components/State Management), TypeScript, and SCSS
Knowledge of SQL, Redis, and performance optimisation
Familiarity with Scrum/Agile methodologies
Experience with Elasticsearch queries, API Platform, and Server Side Rendering (SSR)
Familiarity with AWS or GCP
Commutable of London, England

What the job involves

Backend Ownership: Building new features and maintaining our tech stack
Collaboration: Providing technical feasibility advice to the product working group and supporting the Frontend Developer with robust API contracts
Infrastructure & Security: Owning our releases, managing cloud infrastructure, and ensuring system security

Playfinder’s online booking platform allows users to easily book sports facilities in their area, while solving the problems of under-booking and digital solutions deficits at small to medium-sized sports venues. Having first focused on the city of London alone, Playfinder currently operates in a number of other major cities and towns across the UK as well as in Dublin, Ireland.

Early growth was steady for the company after its 2014 inception, and in recent years, the platform’s popularity has soared, quite akin to the growth of similar tech used by restaurants.

This surge in platform traffic helped Playfinder secure its first seven-figure investment from Armajaro Holdings as well as new Chairman, David Roberts. The next big steps for the company are to increase its in-house talent pool, form further partnerships with sports companies, education boards, councils and private venue owners, and expand its footprint across the UK and Ireland.
