Role
Who you are
- 2+ years of experience as an engineering manager
- 5+ years of platform experience building enterprise software as a software engineer
- Experience building, scaling, and operating platform services in production
- Experience working closely with multi-functional partners in product, design, and engineering
- Grown high-trajectory, early-to-mid-career engineers into leaders with company-wide impact
- A strong understanding of platform primitives, and how they is used in enterprise SaaS
- Willing to work onsite in our SF office 3 days a week
- Interest in life sciences!
What the job involves
- We are seeking an Engineering Leader for our App Core team within Application Platform
- This team is responsible for building the core capabilities that power the Benchling Platform for our users
- This team is critical to enable Benchling to expand its footprint into new product areas, and support requirements for our enterprise customers
- As the leader of this team, you will manage engineers working on Validation & Business Rules, Notifications, Feature Flags, etc
- You will help define the long-term vision for the team, and deliver the next generation capabilities of the Benchling platform
- Recruit, develop, and lead a team of exceptional platform engineers
- Partner closely with product and design to define roadmap and long-term product strategy
- Hold a high bar for product quality as the teams execute their work
- Partner closely with engineers on the team to ensure that we make excellent technical decisions as we lay the foundations for these new products
- Meet with customers to understand their science & what they need from Benchling
- Contribute to engineering-wide organizational improvements as part of the management team
