Role
Who you are
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with experience using and improving CRM systems to track partner relationships and opportunities
- Proven years of experience in partnerships or business development, preferably within design, media, or IP-driven industries
- Strong empathy for and enjoyment working with people in creative industries
- Strong negotiation skills and proven success in closing high-value or strategic deals
- Comfortable operating independently in a new market, with strong initiative and strategic thinking
- Interest in creative fields such as art, type and design
- Fluency in an additional language such as French or German is advantageous
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a strategic and entrepreneurial team member to lead Monotype’s type foundry partnerships in EMEA
- This is a unique opportunity to cultivate high-value foundry partner relationships, and influence our global inventory strategy from the ground up
- In this role, you’ll be responsible for retaining and nurturing long term relationships with premier and strategic foundry partners
- You'll act as both a trusted advocate for our partners and an internal voice for global foundry needs, delivering actionable feedback to product, content, and experience teams to ensure we’re building solutions that fit the needs of the global market
- Build and retain long-term relationships with premier & strategic foundries, becoming their primary point of contact connecting them with their network of supporting functions at Monotype
- Partner with internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding, licensing alignment, and optimal merchandising
- Gather feedback to continuously improve the partner experience, advocate for tooling or content needs, and identify regional blockers to scale
- Work closely with the regional and global sales leaders to understand customer needs for fonts, identify and close the gaps in our offering and strive to support sales in revenue maximization
- Work cross-functionally with global Partner Experience, Legal, Product, and Marketing teams to improve the foundry experience and drive mutual value
- Travel in EMEA to meet directly with partners to strengthen relationships and represent Monotype at relevant industry events and in professional communities

Our take
Monotype is a giant in the typeface industry, with well over 100 years in the business. It owns the rights to over 10,000 fonts, including A-list players like Helvetica and Times New Roman. Whilst typeface creation might not seem to be the booming industry it once was, Monotype is carving out some interesting new development opportunities in the hopes of further growth.
As more major organizations go digital, and go global, they need to carry their house image across a growing number of diverse markets (and languages) and render the fonts in high definition. Monotype has been developing a strong reputation for designing multi-lingual brand identities - for example, for the city of Dubai - but also works with Google to bring hundreds of historically unrendered fonts online.
In this way, Monotype is smartly transitioning from a designer/developer of contemporary fonts to a facilitator helping brands to expand globally and into the digital space. With offerings in place to provide this service to fast-growing industries like gaming and online streaming, Monotype is hitching its wagon to hugely lucrative markets.
