Who you are

8+ years of experience in back-end development in with Python, Typescript/Node.js or Java, with a focus on delivering for security, scalability, availability, and performance
Knowledge of AI and experience in AI is a strong plus: Knowledge about LLMs (GPT, Mistral, Llama, Claude, etc.) and experience developing with them (usage, prompting, etc), AI frameworks (Langchain, LlamaIndex, Auto Gen, etc), AI architectures (RAG, reranking, etc)
Security is at the forefront of your mind in everything that you do
Nice to have: Ideally you will have worked with AWS in a production environment and understand how to design for, deploy on and get the best out of, the environment and services provided by Amazon

What the job involves

As a backend/AI engineer at Aircall, you will be working on developing scalable AI applications to be used by our 20,000+ customers. You will be a part of the AI Products Platform team, working on areas like agent context, agent infrastructure, MCP, agent memory etc
You will work closely with backend, front end and infrastructure engineers, as well as product and leadership teams. You will also participate in requirements analysis and design of these systems

Our take

Call centres have been a mainstay of sales teams for decades, with the human touch delivering an impression conversion rate of about 30% for inbound calls. However analogue call centres are physical infrastructure-heavy and unable to take advantage of the flexibility afforded by remote and hybrid ways of work. Aircall exists to change that, providing a cloud-based call centre infrastructure that allows sales teams to work from their home offices.

Aircall isn't the only company in this space, and it faces heavy competition from Cloudtalk, another cloud-based call centre solution. However Aircall stands out in the market by its use of open APIs and webhooks, making integration with existing productivity and helpdesk tools much easier, and its superior call quality. Aircall has developed a significant customer base with these strengths, with over 20,000 companies using its platform.

The company has raised significant funding in recent years, highlighting the confidence investors have in their offering. With a rapidly expanding presence in the US, European, UK and Australian markets and the recent addition of AI voice agents to handle business calls 24/7, Aircall is clearly set on innovating at scale.
