Who you are
- Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining backend systems, with a strong understanding of software engineering principles
- Tangible experience in independently designing, developing, and delivering high-quality, lasting code
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, providing mentorship and contributing to shared goals
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and ambiguity, maintaining positivity and focus
- Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- 4+ years of experience in software engineering, with exposure to building systems in Python, AWS, or other modern technologies
- Excited by the prospect of working on products that impact financial institutions and their communities
- Trustworthy, empathetic, and calm under pressure

- You will join a talented and collaborative team of engineers to design, build, and maintain critical systems that power ModernFi’s products
- As a Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in developing scalable backend services, contributing to core engineering practices, and supporting the growth of a culture of excellence
- You’ll have the opportunity to make a significant impact from day one, contributing to projects that drive ModernFi’s mission of empowering banks and credit unions to better serve their communities
- Develop maintainable, scalable, and reliable backend services to support ModernFi’s core products and integrations with financial partners
- Contribute to and uphold engineering standards such as code quality, testing, documentation, and CI/CD pipelines
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand feature requirements, define technical specifications, and deliver business-critical features
- Work with other engineers by providing constructive feedback during code reviews and contributing to design discussions
- Tackle challenging technical problems, delivering solutions that are both innovative and pragmatic
- Help foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and technical excellence
Our take
Rising interest rates and the recent collapse of prominent banks have triggered a mass exodus of deposits from smaller institutions. This "deposit runoff" has left community and regional banks scrambling to retain funds, impacting their growth and stability.
ModernFi offers an end-to-end deposit management platform to address this very issue. Its "deposit network" connects smaller banks with high-value depositors, facilitating deposit sourcing, automated fund sweeping, and enhanced security for depositors. This network acts as a lifeline for smaller banks, helping them attract and retain crucial funding.
Recent investment will fuel the company's expansion in several areas, with the ultimate goal of becoming a one-stop shop for bank CFOs, offering a comprehensive suite of solutions for managing the entire deposit lifecycle. With strong market demand and a clear roadmap for expansion, ModernFi appears well-positioned to navigate the shifting landscape of banking and become a vital resource for community and regional banks in the years to come.
