Who you are
- Has a strong interest in using data to understand and address business and user problems
- Can manage a diverse set of stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment on analytical priorities
- Is curious about how users engage with a product, and what this might mean for what the business should build or prioritize next
- Is self motivated and can unblock themselves when the perfect dataset isn’t readily available or the business question isn’t clearly articulated
- Dives deeply into ambiguous questions, and refines them into clear problem statements that address what the business really cares about or what really matters to our users
- 5+ years of experience in data science, product analytics, or similar functions
- Strong SQL skills and comfort working with large datasets
- Experience building visualizations with Tableau, Looker or similar BI platforms
- Proficient in communicating insights to business partners
- Ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders and prioritize an analytics roadmap in a dynamic environment with competing priorities
- Experience applying statistics and experiment design in a business context
- Experience in at least one data-oriented language like Python, R or Julia
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Math, Computer Science, Engineering)
Desirable
- Experience with another two-sided marketplace
- Experience applying causal inference, predictive modeling or other advanced statistical methods in a business context
What the job involves
- We are looking for a senior data scientist for a contract to possible full time opportunity to partner with our PED (Product, Engineering, Design) teams and our diverse business units to help them understand our users, our product performance and our marketplace as a whole. This role sits on our Analytics team and will report directly to the Head of Analytics
- Work closely with PED to set goals, understand how users are engaging with our product, and learn from experiments in our two-sided marketplace
- Develop measurement frameworks and institute new metrics or reporting systems to help us understand our marketplace and users
- Align cross-functional stakeholders on the priorities and analytical roadmap for critical areas of our business
- Design and analyze experiments
- Dive deep on user behavior and the dynamics of our marketplace
- Unpack business trends and diagnose drivers of business performance
- Collaborate with the rest of the Analytics and Data Engineering teams and the broader data community to grow and nurture data culture at Peerspace
- Databases: Google BigQuery
- Tooling: dbt Cloud, Airflow, Git
- BI Tool: Tableau, Statsig (for A/B testing)
- Languages: SQL, Python

Peerspace is a marketplace for users to explore venues for both meeting and production needs. Likened to the Airbnb for hourly renting venues, the company has over 45,000 spaces bring their visions to life around the globe.
Growing rapidly from the get go, Peerspace made its mission to find interesting spaces to market via it's site to encourage traffic from a certain demographic of creatives. The company’s 2023 rebrand has aligned the aesthetic of the company with its users. Fashion shoots, music videos and film shoots among other events like birthday parties are some of the exciting happenings inside the venues that Peerspace host on its site.
The company now stands as a leader in its market offering subscriptions like PeerspacePro which connects its agency partners to provide production crews with exclusive rentals and scouting support. The company’s customer base, including Disney, Netflix and Vogue as just a few of the household names to use the service. Now the company's tackling Houston as its next destination, so it will be exciting to see how this takes off and what's next for Peerspace.
