- A successful candidate will have a consulting aptitude, ownership, incredible attention-to-detail, a passion and love for software and operational troubleshooting, customer-facing skills, and a desire to work within a group at the center of Amazon's Robotic Fulfillment System operations
- Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
- Experience in software development, or technical support
- Experience in managing technically complex large and small scale projects
- Experience in managing and supporting Windows, Linux and macOS operating environments
- Own and drive Root Case Analysis (RCA) on complex system issues
- Proven experience as lead technician supporting major or critical applications and systems
Desirable
- Ability to discuss complex technical issues with technical, non-technical stakeholders and leadership teams
- An understanding of AWS or other cloud technologies
- Experience with change management processes
- Unix/Python Shell Scripting skills
- Experience in a fulfillment or logistics environment
- Experience with hardware and solutions troubleshooting
- Knowledge and/or working experience with networking and Product IT management
What the job involves
- Amazon Robotics is seeking a talented and self-motivated Technical Support Engineer to work with the Advanced Robotics team to improve overall system efficiencies through the use of advanced technologies.
- We are seeking candidates who possess a blend of technical and customer-facing skills to successfully support the Amazon Robotic Fulfillment Systems solution. This job will require a unique combination of flexibility, troubleshooting, creativity, people management skills and drive.
- As part of this highly visible team candidates have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with multiple international teams within Amazon to contribute to the continuous innovation of the Robotic Fulfillment System
- Support and foster a culture of inclusion
- Manage large scale technical projects with high attention to detail
- Maintain and/or create policies, procedures and processes when needed
- Proactively identify opportunities for long term and repeatable solutions
- Participate in hiring, training, and development of others
- Managing network systems (such as DNS, DHCP, SSL, OSI Model, and TCP/IP)
- Windows, Mac or Linux Operating systems support and proactive maintenance
- Responsible for on-call duties in a rotation with other team members
- Frequently document known solutions in the form of knowledge base articles
- Demonstrate a passion for learning new technologies and processes

The company is present in numerous verticals, including cloud computing with Amazon Web Services, AI with its range of Alexa devices and a global marketplace more commonly referred to as 'the everything store'. Acquisitions include Ring, Twitch, Whole Foods Market, and IMDb.
More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.
Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
