Role
Who you are
- Strong experience building and evolving CI/CD systems and build tooling (e.g., Bazel, Buck, GitHub Actions, Buildkite, CircleCI)
- Hands-on experience with agentic frameworks, MCP servers, LLM tooling, or AI-assisted development workflows
- Experience improving developer experience across local development, CI/CD pipelines, internal tooling, and developer workflows
- Familiarity with production systems in public cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or similar)
- Experience with containerized environments, Kubernetes, and modern infrastructure tooling (e.g., ArgoCD, Istio, Atmos)
- Strong track record of leveraging AI tools and workflows to materially improve engineering velocity and operational efficiency
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams and functions
- Genuine passion for Abridge's mission to improve healthcare in America and across the world
- This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 3 days / week (MWF) in our San Francisco office. Please only apply if you are able to commit to this model and/or willing to relocate to San Francisco

What the job involves
- Abridge's platform is scaling fast alongside our expanding customer base and product growth. We're building a new agentic engineering team — one of our top company priorities — reporting directly to our CTO
- We're looking for Engineers to help build the agentic infrastructure every engineer at Abridge relies on
- You'll work at the intersection of AI tooling, CI/CD and developer experience — building the internal systems and agents that power how we develop and ship software
- As an early member of this team, you'll tackle high-impact, high-ambiguity problems spanning CI/CD pipelines, MCP servers, and AI agents. Your work will directly shape how engineers build and deploy across Abridge
- This is a rapidly-evolving role that sits at the intersection of AI, developer experience, platform engineering, and healthcare
- Build and evolve developer infrastructure: Own CI/CD systems, build tooling, and developer platforms that improve velocity and reliability across engineering. Drive measurable improvements in build/test times, deployment frequency, and onboarding experience
- Design and implement agentic workflows: Build MCP servers, autonomous agents, and AI-assisted tooling that embed AI deeply into the development lifecycle. Help teams integrate these tools effectively into their day-to-day work
- Own the developer experience: Improve the end-to-end developer journey — from local development and testing to deployment and observability. Identify and eliminate friction, treating internal engineers as your customers
- Drive technical excellence: Bring strong systems thinking to architecture and tooling decisions that improve developer ergonomics, feedback loops, and development velocity
- Evaluate and adopt AI tooling: Stay current on AI-powered development tools and guide adoption across the engineering org to deliver measurable productivity gains
Our take
Summarising key elements of healthcare conversations is crucial for both physicians and patients. Medical scribes, though effective, are costly, and the healthcare system faces funding and staffing crises. This has created a demand for more efficient notetaking solutions.
This is where Abridge comes in; it has developed a HIPAA-compliant AI platform that transcribes, structures, summarises, and provides insights from audio or transcripts of medical conversations. It claims to work across all specialities and offers patient-friendly summaries in easy-to-understand language.
Abridge aims to alleviate pressure on the healthcare system from the patient's perspective, a unique approach among healthtech startups. While companies like Inovia, DOUB, and DeepScribe focus on assisting physicians with medical transcription AI, they lack Abridge's patient-centric features, which are valuable in enhancing the patient experience. Its unique focus, then, is part of the reason why it enjoyed two impressive rounds of funding in 2025 alone.
